10/2025 Updated Review: I am saddened to say I need to update my review from 5-stars to 3-stars. Ever since the kind lady that made most of the açaí bowls has left, the quality and service have decreased in the past couple months. I respect the business and truly hope it improves again, it is literally one of those special foods that make me go “mhmm!” after each bite. I used to visit regularly 1-2 times each week for this açaí bowl. Sadly, the bowls the past couple months are lacking their aesthetic/neat presentation, their consistent fruit portions, and need to ensure fresh fruit is used (I had to pick out browned bananas).
I also hope they improve their service and quality check as well. These bowls are not pre-made, when you order one - then they make one. They have the açaí in a big tub and they make a big, fresh batch of in-house granola as needed. I got my most recent açaí bowl (and did not order ahead) and took it with me to go. My office is just a 4 min walk over and when I opened it, the açaí had spilt and the whole bowl was thoroughly melted! :( It was a melted açaí soup, I had never been given a melted bowl before. I didn’t have time to go back and return it, and I honestly believe I was given someone else’s açaí bowl order who hadn’t picked it up yet. My friend’s bowl in the same order was freshly made because she doesn’t like coconut, yet my order with everything on it was melted. It takes at least 30+ mins for these bowls to thoroughly melt. A few days later I returned and politely shared the feedback with the owner and sadly did not receive any reassurance and felt dismissed. I wasn’t expecting a free bowl or anything, but something like “I’m sorry that happened, that is not normal. Thank you for letting me know, I’ll look into this so it doesn’t happen again.” Instead I got “I don’t know how that happened. I don’t know. Okay, take care.”
Again, I truly hope they improve. I’m not visiting as often, but I hope my next açaí bowl and the açaí bowls going forward improve because I still believe they’re one of the best açaí bowls in San Diego. The pictures are from when the quality was unmatched before, you can see the care and time the kind lady took before to make each one. If it wasn’t strawberry hearts, they were displayed neatly like the bananas. ❤️
Original Review: This is my fav place in central San Diego to get açaí bowls! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the service is great, and omg the açaí bowl is delicious! What really sticks out is the granola they use is made in-house and they put it on generously! I went on Valentine’s Day for lunch and the kind lady who makes the açaí bowls cut the strawberries as hearts - so cute!! They really pay attention to their customers and make it a great...
Read moreOk, actually I've only had one there.
I find it interesting that they are green/use local sources as much as possible.
Besides all that, the sandwich i had was really good, #8, roast beef with mushrooms on a ciabatta pannini. Wow, very yummy. Not a bad portion of meat, and it balanced well with the sandwich - i.e. I could taste all the flavors in the sandwich, which I think is a good mark of a well made sandwich. There were a ton of mushrooms and a good portion of cheese (which most deli's try to skimp on). So all in all, a good portioned sandwich for the price ($7), which wasn't bad....though with chips and a drink, the meal will set you back about $10.
Service was great, very friendly helpful staff, and fairly quick. Letting me even know that my sandwich was in the pannini press.
The deli is located in a building complex, so finding it, and parking, the first time is a tad confusing, but not bad. They have a sign out on the sidewalk in the complex that helps in locating them. Check out the menu online before going, as the only menu I saw was posted on the door before going in.
The place is very small inside, so don't expect to stay there, as there are only a few...
Read moreSuper cute, hole-in-the-wall place. I love the design and the mission - serve healthy locally sourced food. The workers were super friendly and kind, and helpful. The wait wasn’t very long at all. Everything I want in a cafe. One noticeable unique feature they have is the “coffee honor box” where it seems like you get to make your coffee and you just put the cost of the coffee, about $3, in the cash box, no wait at all. Love that for coffee drinkers that are just starting their day or on the go. I personally ordered a mint tea latte and a Turkey sandwich and they were both really tasty. I loved the tea latte because I thought I only made them at home, it was nice to see it at a cafe like this one. The reason why I put 4 stars ⭐️is because the sourdough on my sandwich tasted a little old, kind of stale. Perhaps it was just an off day or I got the bad part of the loaf but it didn’t taste like a usual sourdough. Overall a great experience. If I’m around the area again, I would...
