I stayed here from Oct 17-20th. Aside from the bed not being too comfortable and the walls being thin, everything was fine with my stay and I thought the staff was pretty friendly UNTIL I received an email from Hilton at 9pm tonight saying my reservation is confirmed for a 1night stay from Oct 20-Oct21st. I had already checked out this morning, Oct 20th at 7:40am. When I called the hotel to ask why I received an email for a new reservation the man I was speaking with said it’s because they weren’t sure if I was still staying in the room because I left luggage and a backpack behind in the room. I informed him that there must be some kind of mistake because I did not leave anything behind. I only brought one suitcase and my husband brought a leather duffle bag. In addition we brought our dog, her crate and dog bed. All of which were in our possession. Neither of us brought any additional luggage or a backpack at all. To my surprise, the man on the phone argued with me that these are our belongings. What a strange thing to argue with a guest about! I know what’s mine and what isn’t. Wouldn’t I want to retrieve my valuables if it were mine? I told him to check the cameras to see what we entered with and left with if he didn’t believe me. On top of that, how are they not sure if I wasn’t still staying there? It should be in their system that I checked out of the room because I physically went to the front desk to check out, handed the keys over and even received an emailed receipt of my checkout. When I told the the man on the phone this he said, “Well I wasn’t wasn’t there to see you checkout.” Why does it matter who was present? I checked out with whoever was working the front desk that morning. On top of that, if they thought I left items behind why would they resort to making a new reservation and not contacting me? The man on the phone claimed they tried calling me but I have no missed calls or a voicemail from the hotel. Then he said, “Oh well maybe I dialed the wrong number.” He ended up stating he’ll just cancel the reservation but that they’ll be keeping my luggage. I tried to tell him again it’s not my luggage and there must be a mixup with another room or someone else and he rudely hung up on me. I then received an email stating my reservation was cancelled but I may be charged a late cancellation fee. This whole ordeal is so strange and I will be contacting my bank if I receive any additional fees. What’s also crazy is when we left the hotel this morning, I told my husband how nice the front desk staff was and how they gave us water bottles for the drive home. It’s too bad the man on the phone ruined that and we will never stay here again. If you don’t want to get scammed out of paying for extra nights or fees after you’ve already checked out, I’d stay clear of this hotel. Just...
Read moreI checked into Hilton Garden Inn San Diego Mission Valley Stadium on August 3, 2023 and encountered an issue with the hot water in my room. The water was not functioning properly, making it impossible for me to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing shower. I immediately contacted the front desk and requested to change rooms so that I could have a properly functioning hot water supply.
To my surprise and dismay, the situation took an unexpected turn. Not only was my request for a room change met with reluctance, but I also experienced what I can only describe as discrimination. Despite my polite and respectful demeanor, I was treated very poorly by your staff member, Nina. After she treated me poorly, when I voiced my concerns with the way she treated me, she unchecked my young child, two dogs, and myself from our room. Following that, I was denied a room change without any reasonable explanation. Her reasoning that she gave that in her eyes justified her leaving the four of us without somewhere to sleep at almost midnight, was and I quote “I unchecked your room because you lied.” She went on to say Hilton would support her decision and she could refuse service to anyone she chooses. It became apparent that my request was being handled differently from other guests, which left me feeling singled out and humiliated. While I was on the phone with Hilton Honors Reservation line getting assistance, I told Nina I would be filling a complaint with corporate, when she then said “If you threaten me, I will call the police.” When did informing an employee that you would file a complaint become grounds to call the police on a customer. I would like to add, Kristen, another staff member was present the entire time and also asked Nina to check me back into my room several times.
Furthermore, my frustration reached an even higher level when I attempted to make a future booking at the same hotel. I was informed that my reservation request was denied, citing reasons that remain unbeknownst to me. In addition Hilton Honors Reservation line contacted the hotel to request Nina check me back into the room and she denied their request multiple times as well. This went from 11:17pm to 12:11am. Hilton Honors reservations found us a room at Hampton Inn San Diego Mission Valley, which we were able to receive better service at thanks to their staff member, Alisa who consoled me as I cried expressing the way Nina treated me. To add to the humiliation, I was not left with any other choice than to leave the Hilton Garden Inn in my satin pajamas. This denial has left me perplexed and deeply hurt, as I have never encountered any issues during my previous stays at any Hilton Hotels. I would highly recommend you not stay there while they continue to have employees that treat people this way...
Read moreMy family and I stayed there about two weeks ago. I am originally from San Diego and Murphy Canyon is known to me (or at least in the past) as a nice and safe neighborhood. This was the 3 rd and last property owned by the Hilton company that we stayed at the 5 days we were in San Diego. Each was more disappointing than the other. This Hilton though was the cleanest so that was nice and the most spacious. The opening to the parking area is the smallest thing I have ever seen, but that is the least of your worries. My brother and sister stayed there for two days before we got there. They checked out, then we checked in. My brother made sure to tell us to park in the garage because when he came back from getting food one day he saw that someone’s car looked like it was broken into. So we parked in the garage. My brother said he didn’t notice how the surrounding area of the hotel looked because it was raining the days he was there. Plus, he was mainly leaving from the front. But I noticed on a clear night getting food going out the back entrance, that there is a homeless encampment directly behind the hotel. There are lines of cars with people just hanging out of them. Then you see where a fenced in homeless encampment is. That was very sad to see in that area and also scary because I had two small kids with me. I understand not every homeless person is dangerous, but I also know a lot of homelessness comes with crime, drugs etc. Growing up in San Diego most homeless areas were “designated” and you didn’t see it in “safer/nicer” neighborhoods. If I knew where we were staying was going to be like being on Imperial or Downton San Diego I would’ve rented over there (might as well) at least you are aware of what you are getting yourself into. Fast forward to 3 am. We had a rental car my husband wanted to check on (retired Marine so he was already on alert). My husband goes outside to check on the car and he sees 3 guys with phones taking pictures of cars around the outside parking lot most likely for stealing purposes (can’t see any other reason why). If you stay there try your best to park in the garage. That parking is very limited so good luck. Bushes cover the outside parking I am sure more to hide that there is a homeless encampment directly behind there. Those bushes are an easy set up to get your car stolen or broken into. There is nothing back there except the encampment and poor lighting. Didn’t see security. My husband told the front desk. Not sure if anything was done. So beware out of towners either originally from San Diego or just visiting. Things have drastically changed...
