The cashier was very friendly, and the food was delicious! I got a fish taco, a shrimp taco, and guac. Both seafood tacos had mild-moderate flavors that combined very well. None of the flavors overpowered each other, and I prefer milder flavor in my seafood tacos. If you want something bolder, I'd recommend adding some of the sauces from their (excellent!) sauce bar. The shrimp and the batter for the fish were also well seasoned. The tacos were fairly big--two was enough to make me full, and I tend to eat an average amount. My guac tasted good, however it had no cilantro, onion, or tomato that I could see. If I had to rate everything individually, I would give each taco a 5/5 and given the guac at a 3/5--with tomato onions and cilantro I think it would push the guac from good to excellent. In terms of atmosphere, the design of the restaurant was pretty simple and barebones--a bit of art on the wall might make things pop, but it isnt strictly necessary. Will definitely be...

Had the california burrito and huevos rancheros plate with carne asada. They changed the burrito and it was much better! Soft fries, melted cheese, lots of perfectly seasoned meat, and even guac/sour cream now! Great job! Whoever was the cook this morning, keep doing this!
āāāā- I want this place to succeed. That being said I felt like their two burritos were very dry: california burrito and the chilaquiles burrito. The carne asada meat was just too salty and dry and it felt like I was eating a tortilla chip-filled burrito with some dabs of red sauce on the chilaquiles. Guac, sour cream and pico de gallo would help this alot. The fries in the burrito were also salty and too sharp in my mouth if that makes sense. Some local places I go to are Rigobertos on Miramar, El Patron in Mira Mesa, Jalapenos in carmel mtn, and el Ranchito in Poway are all solid. Iāll be back in a few weeks to try this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had no idea that Senor Burro had closed but I was most impressed by Californiaās Taco Shop's newest location here in Rancho Bernardo! I was immediately struck by their selection of creative burritos. I tried the āMalibuā and it was excellent. Made with carne asada, shrimp, grilled onions & Serrano peppers, lettuce and sour cream. Nice sized burrito that was well constructed and super delicious. The menu seemed nicely varied and relatively inexpensive. The restaurant was small but clean with a good amount of tables. The lady working there could not have been more nice. Highly...
