Victors Kafe - Rancho Bernardo — Restaurant in San Diego

From the mouthwatering spicy gyro, that will keep you coming back time and time again, sometimes even in the same day, to the attitude infused teenager maning the grill...You absolutely get the traditional Greek experience here. Out of the many reviews I have written, especially of the more "fast food" dives, this place deserves 5 stars for food alone!! I will have a spicy gyro for lunch and then return later in the day to make their chicken shwarma my dinner. Unfortunately, I have to give them 3 stars for the condescending crescendo of sighs, eyerolls and sheer disregard for customer service that you are met by when you walk in the door. Let alone when you actually order. If respectful customer service is not on your list or if you are fine with teenage angst (I have teenagers so brushing off bad attitudes has become a skill I have perfected) then please visit Victor's. The spicy gyro and the chicken shwarma are my must haves but don't limit yourself to these!! Their entire menu is above and beyond...

Ordered a salad without cucumber (allergies), salad had cucumber on it. Handed it back explained that I needed a salad without cucumber. They took the salad, did nothing but move the salad around a bit and handed it back to me with the cucumber STILL clearly sitting on top of the salad. I handed it back again and explained that I needed a new salad made without any cucumber on it. They grumbled under their breath but they did it. I also had ordered no tzaziki sauce (again cucumbers). Decided to try the dressing as a substitute (manager wasn't there and clerk didn't know if there was cucumber in the dressing). Opened it up and had my daughter try it to see if she could taste any cucumber. It wasn't dressing. It was tzaziki.

Seriously?!

Apparently this place doesn't really care if they kill you with allergens. While mine isn't life-threatening, I wonder how badly they would handle someone's that was.

I love this place! I've ordered on Grubhub twice now due to the excellent ratings and thought it was the best Mediterranean food I had in a long time. You won't be disappointed trying out Victor's Kafe. Consistently good food with good prices. I had a gyro sandwich with fries and added mozzarella, mushrooms, and peppers all for just a dollar! I would highly recommend this addition. They do it so well here. The gyro is never soggy (which has been a problem I've noticed at other places) and the flavor is incredible. Fries were good too - and they include some taziki sauce on the side free of charge (also a rarity at some other restaurants). I was really impressed with all aspects of this place. They know how to run a restaurant. I don't know if anyone over there reads reviews but keep up the great work! Looking forward to...
