At a glance: The best place to eat in the area.. from healthy options to deep fried deliciousness. Smoothies, Acai bowls, Every sandwich you can think of, Amazing fries, and more...
Back story: I'm new to the area with a 10 yr old child who is as picky as they come. I stumbled on this jewel purely by accident as I was exploring the neighborhood. It seemed like an interesting place and even though I was not very hungry, I decided to check the place out. I am so happy I did, because I have yet to find another place like this with fantastic food. At the end of the day, it's how the food is prepared and tastes that matters to most.
They have something for every taste and every life style. Their smoothies and Acai bowls are to die for, and if you like yours with a boost of vitamines, they have that too. (I get mine with a shot of B12) ;-)
If you want something more to fill the hungry belly, the fresh and large portion salads are soooo good. You may even take the leftover home for later as my picky child does with her now favorite Caesar salad with a side of seasoned fries (what can I say, kids love fires and she can't say no to theirs).
For those of you who love your carbs (yes.. I said carbs.. Like I said, something for everyone), besides the delicious fries, there is pizza and pasta as well.
Let's not forget the absolutely delicious Mexican food that is so good that the lunch line can wrap around at times. (My boss drives from La Jolla to eat here)
The sandwich menu is long, so if you love your sandwiches, this is the place for you. So far, every sandwich I've tried has left me fully satisfied. They're so good, I try a different one every time I go to Corner House Cafe. Which by the way, it can be multiple times per week.
Breakfast, Brunch, or lunch.. I have my favorites. Fine out what's yours..
I've been too busy eating to take pictures every time I go, so I had to borrow some from other happy customers.
Go to Corner House Cafe, Get your favorite food, Sit in the Garden, Smell the ocean breeze, and Enjoy every bite. You won't regret it.....
Read moreThis place is amazing! The seating is like sitting at a campground in a national park or campground, but with all the modern conveniences!
A no nonsense cafe serving strong basics (no cold brew BUT excellent iced coffee! And other cafe treats!) This place is solid.
Situated in an historic building and sharing the building with two other businesses, a Mexican joint and a smoothie joint (reviews to follow) the lay out is unique!
Parking is abundant and easy, and the locals I chatted with said it's never problematic to park.
Located on the north side at the very most west end of Sorrento Valley Road, it has amazing ambience with comfortable outdoor seating. There is a beautiful ocean breeze blowing while you sit comfortably outside surrounded by all sorts of plants and trees. Directly across the street is the river, so you are dazzled by the lushness of all the trees and other vegetation which grows along the river, from the mountains to the ocean! Although the seating area is tables on unpaved dirt and well shaded, the beauty and ambience of smelling the ocean breeze or hearing the river in between traffic is tranquil and soothing.
Business is constant and steady, but never crowded.
Overall, no regrets and come when you have time to linger and enjoy...
Read moreThe smoothies and drinks here are probably great. I went trying to order something with fruit and asked if there was Cantaloupe (there wasn't), and then perhaps a smoothie without a frozen banana (not my thing). Both times the woman looked at me like "How dare I question her menu or recipe", like "Why would you need to change or take away any of my fabulous ingredients?" I decided to order an almond butter croissant. There wasn't a description of this croissant but I assumed it was like the ones at Starbucks when you order the chocolate or almond croissants and it's warm and baked together like a fine pastry. I was wrong. It was a warmed up (pretty sure store bought) croissant, cut in half, and spread with the almond butter...like a sandwich. Like I just paid for a peanut butter sandwich with no jelly on flaky bread for almost $5. So I'm working through that. Again the drinks are probably awesome. I doubt I'll ever go back but if I do I'll ask for a coffee and leave it at that. I appreciate the lady for telling me about the drinks but I feel she still had a rudeness to her. I'm the one with so...
