Keep in mind that this place is a hole-in-the-wall. Not a huge place that offers an array of gourmet Filipino dishes. But, it's enough to get your food fix on some of the basic traditional Filipino dishes, desserts, etc. It could also be a dish to take to work, or maybe something to get for dinner because you were just too tired to cook. Whatever your reason for making it over to Dona's Filipino Grill, I really think there's a dish or two out there that you will like or grow to love. I always say, don't knock it, until you try it. I am now a fan of this place.
Another reminder, Dona's Filipino Grill is not over board, nor is it under. All I know is that once a food tray is empty, the cook may not replenish that dish for the day. I'm reminded by my daughter, if you want to get the best selection - right off the grill- best to make it over earlier than later. Of course, there may be popular dishes that, more than likely, will be replenished. Otherwise, good luck, if you make it after 4pm.
For big birthday parties, my daughter has ordered large trays of lumpia. Make sure you call ahead of time.
I usually prefer not to read reviews until after I've visited a place. So, I would say, it won't hurt to give Dona's Filipino Grill a try 👍🏼
Oh, and please don't compare this place to Tita's Kitchen...
Read moreFood is mediocre at best. Although, it's not a bad place to go when I feel nostalgic and want to eat Filipino food again. Recently called them to ask what they currently have available but the lady who picked up the phone didn't feel like answering me at all so I asked if they have specific food. She answered "Yeah sure we have adobo". Finally I got some info and asked okay what else they have. The lady rudely told me to just come and see what they have and then dropped the call. I wanted to explain that I am not in California right now. I am only asking to see what they have for someone I know that's interested to get the food they're selling. But before I could even say the 2nd word of my explanation, she dropped the call. Yeah bad customer service.
This is for my fellow Filipinos. Ang sinabi ni ate nung nagtanong ako kung ano pang meron nila, ang reply ni ate ay "Pumunta ka nlng dito para makita mo. May patawag tawag kapa." Sarapp!
Edit: They ended up not having adobo when the person I knew came which is literally a 3 minute drive. This is given that she left the moment after the...
