Today, I drove 14 minutes to the 3352 Adams Ave Starbucks, circled for parking for another 10. With assignments to do and motivation lacking, I counted on my "pick-me-up" drink. I sat down and pulled out my laptop, ready to work. I placed my order on the Starbucks app to make things quick and simple. Immediately upon receiving the order, the young, dark haired female barista began mocking my order and making fun of my name. The young male barista joined in. The mockery continued for quite some time- I witnessed the entire scene. They had no idea I was sitting right in front of them (only one other customer was sitting in the shop). My day went from bad to worse, rather then bad to better. I will admit, my drink called for several stevia. Due to medical reasons, I cannot consume sugar or dairy. When I'm having a bad day I sometimes just want something sweet- this is one treat I can have. But making fun of my name too? Nail in the coffin. I've worked in extremely high volume coffee in a setting with majority unusual and foreign names- not to mention extremely high maintenance orders. Despite some of the comedic orders or unique names, I would never think to make fun of someone, wether or not I thought they were watching. Upon my order being placed on the pickup counter, I packed my bag, and made eye contact with the two employees and manager. I calmly stated "my name is _" and I would like a refund. I will not be returning to the Starbucks, and I recommend you too choose elsewhere (LeStats is across the street). This is the first review I have ever left. I want to say you never know what someone is going through. As a barista myself, you should try to be the light in someones day. There's a reason they are...
Read moreThis has always been an exceptionally well run establishment. The building is historic, note the handsome wooden rafters on the ceiling. It used to be a bank back in the good old days. Of course, I was chagrined when this Starbucks opened up catty-corner to my then favorite (and all-night) coffeehouse Lestat's.
BUT, the coffee is better here, and the food too. It is air conditioned nicely and the music is hip and varied enough to continue making an impression.
There is nice outdoor seating too, technically now all non-smoking, but if you are by your self out there, and discrete, you can puff a couple now and then.
I can't think of a better run Starbucks, even a better run business than this particular Starbucks frachise. Kudos to the owners, the management, and of course the hard-working staff! Tip big--it is how you can best stimulate the economy,...
Read moreLooking for a good Starbucks in San Diego, one with a warm local vibe and a friendly outside "pedestrian" sitting area - try Normal Heights. This location has a nice community feel to it, a mix of friendly locals, some on the fly in / out - others moving slower with dogs and babies!
Although typically busy, it never seems crowded inside the Lobby. Lots of windows to see outside. The ceiling has a nice high quality avant garde custom finish. Good tunes. Parking in the lot, or 2 hrs free on Adams.
Two of the Baristas who always shine here with exceptional customer service and a friendly smile are Paola & Alexia. Their positive attitudes, attention to detail and retail courtesy make buying a Black Grande Pike - a special part of the morning.
In the corporate world, these same attributes will assure them of business success wherever their work-journeys...
