I had this place on three occasions now (all takeout). The first time was pretty good, no complaints. The second time was Valentine’s Day, I ordered through their website and it was a disaster. I arrived and the hostess could not find my order, then once she did, 5 minutes later, she told me it’d be another 15 minutes. 40 minutes later still nothing, I went back to the hostess and she told me another 10 minutes. 30 minutes later, nothing. Finally 15 minutes later, my order was ready. They forgot the drinks so I asked for them, 10 minutes went by and I had to ask again, another 10 minutes (foods probably cold now). They gave me a gift card for the issue, but it got worse. I got home to find I didn’t get everything I ordered. They didn’t even get the kids drinks rights, they got ginger ale instead of sprite (in a soup cup Nonetheless) and never got the cookie promised for a kids meal. My fiancé valentines dinner was missing, what a disaster. I tried to call since the order was so inaccurate but no one answered and we were very frustrated by the 2 hour wait, being promised a time, being ignored...disaster.
Used the gift card they gave me tonight and I got what looks like a small lunch portion of food, for $25... it did taste great, however, I shouldn’t still be hungry. Good thing I ordered an appetizer also.
I wanted to like this place so bad but my experience on Valentine’s Day really ruined things for me. That coupled with the tiny portion today, bummer. Maybe they are still adjusting to covid take out demand? I don’t know. Give it a go, maybe you’ll have better luck than I have had. I’d avoid on holidays as it seems they struggle with high order volume days. I do believe the dine in experience here would be much better...
Read morei have been coming here for 3 plus years. was initially attracted to the place because of the family size servings (we had 10 people to feed and a small budget.) tried the large family size lasagna, salad and breadsticks deal. didnt expect much but I figured at least it would be cheap. The lasagna was well above average for anywhere here in San Diego. With other places charging 12 to $15 for one small piece of lasagna, this place delivers a solid meal for 4. we added a couple of orders of mussels $6 on the happy hour half off special also very tasty. im not a salad guy so the salad being a basic lettuce toss didnt worry me, breadsticks could use a little garlic though so order some fresh minced and its good. the regular bread served with dinner is better than most. ive had excellent service and not as good all from the same guy. Hahaha. (probably has an off night once in a while.) had to ask for extra bread a couple of times, but im a huge fan of italian food and bread. have had upwards of 30 in my group and had no problems. we usually order family size entres and share. such a deal on manicotti. If you want to look like a fat cat take a bunch of people out for fair priced and good food, it's the place to hit. I bring lots of out of town guest everybody loves the food. Oh one last thing DAMN the place looks great nice atmosphere and good beer selection. i like the tony gwynn. nice little place to bring a dressed up or casual date and not...
Read moreMade a reservation for Valentines Day 3 days before on Open Table. Showed the Hostess the reservation - despite that, the wait was supposedly 45 minutes....Only issue with that was that other less vocal people whose reservations were 45 minutes before had not been seated. It was total chaos. Those polite people who had reservations were being "trampled over" verbally by more aggressive walk-ins who didn't want to wait. They said that they "couldn't find" my reservation - and that reserving through Open Table - that "people only come 50% of the time." So apparently if you reserve a table and show up on Valentines Day they will be suprised. Call SearSucker - they made a reservation over the phone - drove the 11 minutes - was seated in 5 minutes, and had a wonderful evening. Won't be coming to Vittorios again. Really poor management by Hostess - and to give her a little credit - she didn't seem to have the support/training that she needed to handle a busy evening like Valentines Day,. When you make a reservation 3 days in advance, and rush home from work with your beautifully dressed-up wife for a special evening - its a real let-down to have the...
