Grumpy Cafe — Restaurant in San Francisco

Very disappointed, me and my boyfriend wanted to try grumpys for awhile now and we decided to try it out instead of our regular cafe and the food was good but horrible service from Erika from the moment we sat down, asked if we wanted orange juice or coffee to drink we said just water and she rolled her eyes , then when it was time to order she wouldn’t let me finish without trying to walk away , then she gives us the check with an attitude and tossed it down not sure why she was rude from the start. We were super nice the entire time and tried to keep our calm until I saw she upcharged my meal $3 said bacon was extra even though it said bacon or sausage with my meal and if I wanted a whole sausage or Canadian bacon it was an up charge but I got regular bacon. Classic Diner / Cafeteria old school feel. New owners are very nice and engaging with the customers. Complete opposite of the old owners who were indeed grumpy and three times in a row got my orders wrong so I had stopped going there. Plus all the food had a similar flavor that was off-putting. The noodle soups have always been pretty good, but that one time the old owner gave Beef Udon instead of the Veggie I ordered was the last straw. (The beef was awful) Speaking with the new owner I can tell that they want to elevate the food and are indeed doing so. I'm back to being a regular.

This is not much more than a cozy little cafeteria with a mix of American and Japanese cuisine. There is a breakfast menu, but it's not available all day. Everything is fresh, hot, and fast! The biggest challenge: parking. Just be aware that this is a industrial district, not a restaurant district. Not a lot of choices for kids, this is intended more for the adults who work in the area.
