My first time going here after frequenting alot of other Bay Area Salsa spots. The Pros: the crowd is probably the best thing, some really good dancers seem to come and the music when I went was decent. The Cons: For a venue in the SF boonies that invariably means you have to drive or Uber, they are over priced and try to nickel and dime you at every turn. When I went on a Friday, $25 for a cover is steep considering it wasn't really packed, only two rooms were open, there was no live band, just a dj who at times probably just qued a playlist from their phone. Annoyingly, there is an extra charge for the coat check and plastic dixie cups of water, I don't think they have water fountains. PSA to whoever runs this venue, If you're gonna host dance centric nights with classes and charge people alot of money to just get in, and you're not having to pay a band, what are people paying for? How hard is it to just set up a self serve water station, obviously ppl are hot, drinking and are going to need to drive home you don't use real cups so the excuse of washing dishes isn't a thing... (Yes, this is a Hill I'm willing to die on, this little thing makes the club look lazy and cheap). Final verdict, the people are great the venue is mid. There are better places that are less expensive, in better locations, consistently have great live bands, offer coat racks, seating, water... Cigar Bar in Downtown SF, La Pena Cultural Center in Berkeley when they have parties, Zanzi & Sundays at Brooklyn Basin in Oakland (a free btw) put more thought and consideration into curating a positive experience. I might come back, but I'm not...
Read moreWent out with high hopes for a night of spicy salsa dancing—what I got was…not that.
The name, advertising, and website clearly promised a salsa club, so naturally I showed up ready to dance. Shoes shined, rhythm loaded. But once inside, it became quickly apparent that "salsa" must’ve meant the dip, because there was zero salsa dancing happening. No Latin music, no dancers, no basic steps, no clave… just a DJ spinning generic club tracks and a crowd more interested in selfies than salsa. Soon after came the Mongolian rap artist! What? How did we go from salsa to Mongolian rap??
I asked the bartender about it and he said, “Yeah, no salsa tonight.” Huh?
The drinks werr overpriced and it cost me $140 cover to get in, only to find realize the bait and switch. If you're hoping for cumbia, bachata, or anything even close to salsa, look elsewhere.
False advertising is a killer. One star for the bar, but minus three for completely missing the mark on...
Read moreThis is my favorite place to dance salsa every Friday night for the past year and a half. I only missed when I was on vacation.
People are friendly, all ages and levels of dancers. The floor is great and always clean. Unlike many other clubs where it is sticky and dangerous. Many huge fans to cool off.
Great lighting, Dj and 3 rooms to dance with the main room being Salsa and the other rooms are bachata and it varies in the third room, it could be Kizomba, Zouk, Cumbia or Latin tropical
There are at least four dance classes before the social party begins at 9:30 PM. Parking is easy and I feel safe because they have Security driving around outside as well as by the door.
It’s $25 at the door, but if you buy your tickets in advance, you can get them for as little as $15 on Eventbrite.
So come and join the Salsa community, have fun, get exercise and...
