As a vegan, my options are already limited when going to a taqueria. I was pleased to see vegetarian tacos even though all that means is beans and rice with guac and salsa. Knowing that wouldn't fill me up and making it clear that I was vegan, I asked for some crosscut fries to fill me up. . . The tacos were as expected, pinto beans, rice, guac, salsa. The fries ont he other hand were a complete let down. I dont know if it was their idea of a joke, or they're just not cut out to serve vegetarian and vegan options, but clearly there's a huge problem when your fries come out with shreds of meat in them. . . .I didn't ask for meat in my fries, and it wasn't like they added a side of meat to them, but there was clearly pieces of meat in the fries . . Which led me to believe that they use the same fryer for all their foods no matter the dietary preferences. . . I got up to check and noticed that they also dip the tortillas in the same grease to cook them for the tacos, no defferentiating for vegetarian tacos and meat tacos. I threw my meal away and walked out. . . . I didn't make a big deal about it because again, they're not advertised as a place that caters to different dietary restrictions but by the same token, they shouldn't offer vegetarian options if they're not prepared to make the commitment and prevent cross food...
Read moreFor a neighborhood joint not in the Mission, Dos Charros serves a purpose and the locals flock to it. This place has the greatest variety of meat and seafood places on this side of town and some unusual dishes, like the pina charra with seafood and the alambres with chopped beef. This is one of the few places to get lengua west of the Mission and it's very good here, perhaps the best meat choice.
I have gripes, though: (1). They surcharge credit cards but there is no signage advising of that. The surcharge is greater than my credit card's cash back percentage, so I pay cash here.
(2). I am getting tired of paying for extras and not getting them. I usually get food to go and when I get home, and on two or three occasions found that my super burritos didn't have the guacamole and sour cream. Tonight, I paid extra for cheese on my tacos, but they had none. I have mentioned being shorted to the cashiers on visits after being shorted and none has even expressed an interest, let alone offered to make things right.
(3). They are cheap with the to-go tostaditas. They volunteer one small bag with two burritos. I usually, but not always, can talk them into an extra bag. At least they no longer ration the salsa cups.
So, good choices and good food, with some rough edges in the...
Read moreThis location was pretty good up until my visit yesterday 9/16. Had been coming to both this one and the daly city location for over 2 yrs and each time, the Food and service had always been great; no complaints.
I only had a 30 mins lunch break and since it was around the lunch rush, I decided to call my order in- 2 super steak burritos. I was told the order would be ready in 15 mins; takes about 10-15 mins to get there. Showed up to the restaurant and tat hat time the order wasnt ready. Ok no problem, I'll give it a few mins. Before I know it, 5 or so people are in line and at this point I'd been at the restaurant and extra 5 mins. A few of those people had rec'd their orders way ahead of mine..wth, how long does it take to make 2 burritos?!?' I ask how much longer And was told they were working on the order. At this point 5 or so mins passed and the remainder of people that came after me received their orders- the restaurant is empty! I was so fed up and just ended up asking for a refund. And of course as the cashier is slowly giving my money back the order is miraculously ready. Ended up returning back to work late with no food. I will not Be returning here and probably wont be spending my money at their daly city...
