Found this place on a whim by looking at Google maps. Ever since a trip to the Midwest to a small fish shack, I've been looking for something similar and this place fit the bill from head to toe. Grabbed the small serving of catfish fillet with strawberry cake, boyfriend got the small serving of tilapia with peach cobbler. Both came with generous portions (6-7 pieces of fish on a heaping basket of fries with two slices of bread chilling atop it all) and only took about ten minutes to make. Chatting with the proprietor, he guaranteed I would be back, and honestly? He knows his stuff. I intend to bring my friends here soon to try it out. This is as close to southern fried fish as you'll get. Crispy, perfectly cooked fish, no fishy flavor, just delicious flakey tender meat with a cornmeal crisp, and no overly greasy feeling on anything. Once I got home I grabbed some pickles, sliced up some fresh onion, and dug in. This place is incredible, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. All in all, it was $30 and I tossed in a $5 tip. Place is To go only, cash only, as many great hole in the wall institutions in the city would be. I will be back for more, and am only disappointed that I've lived in the city for ten years and just found this place, and it's not even a 10 minute drive from me. Try this place if you get a chance. Oh, and if the door is locked, just knock, they let me in at 5:30 on a Friday night and locked the doors, but are open for those hungry...
Read moreCould be the most visually unappealing eatery in SF. (I'm guessing the interior 'decor' went downhillI when the pandemic scotched their seating. Take out only now...) I gave it a try based on the positive reviews of the food, as it's close to where I volunteer a couple days a week. The fish "burgers" are several strips of breaded fried fish inside a good sized burger bun with cheese and typical burger condiment options. I got a tilapia burger. The menu listed here on Google appears not have been updated in a good while, maybe since pre-pandemic. The burger w. tax was still under $8, (cash only, btw) comparable to what you'd pay for a sandwich of that size at a fast food chain... but MUCH better than any fish sandwich offered by the big chains. When I'm in the mood for fish again I'll definitely go back, and I'll call it to the attention of the other folks...
Read moreI ordered the snapper burger with a side of fries. It was delicious. My coworker was eating 1 and it looked really good. So after work I drove down to get 1 myself. The fish is well seasoned, the bread was soft, fries were still hot once I got home. I have eaten here several more times with no disappointment. The owner guy has a great attitude and very friendly each time I have gone in. They don't take credit so had to get cash. Don't bother calling ahead the guy is way too busy to pickup the phone. I will continue to eat here in the near future. The burger taste delicious😋. Stop on by and get you some home cooked food. NOT FAST FOOD, COOKED FOOD!!!!! Stop by and feed your soul...
