Must-try char siu rice‼️ New LA spot: Hong Kong-Macao-style Cha Chaan Teng 🥹

If nobody likes to read too much no worries, is worth to give it a shot to this location. Tony is a very nice guy. Well 1st of all seems like every time I choose a restaurant something happens. Today I took my girlfriend for a late night dinner, place is super cool, I'm not gonna say too much otherwise if anyone decides to go won't be that cool. By the way the menu is pretty wide, so many options to choose from,. My girlfriend ordered baked rice with seafood and I got the shredded peppers with water spinach I believe is the name. My dish came pretty fast and i was expecting to see some shredded peppers but that wasn't the case, however the spinach were so delicious with garlic flavor, and very nice portion. Must try. While eating my dish we were expecting our 2nd dish, as we usually share them. We finished the spinach and the 2nd dish was not delivered,. However another costumers that came after us got their meal but not ours, and was weird because it looked like what they ordered was baked as well, that was my assumption. By that time we were waiting for 30 minutes even more. As I was so sure they forgot to bake our dish, I told my girlfriend, they forgot to cook it. I stood up and went to ask about our meal and one guy went to ask to the kitchen, he came back seconds later and said to us, they are cooking but if you guys don't want it I cancel, he said. I knew they haven't even started to bake our dish. As the guy said 5 minutes will be ready I asked my girlfriend do u want to wait. And so we agreed to wait, I even put my timer, after exact 2¹/² minutes same guy brought our "baked"dish , as I knew they were not even baking way before I asked, I told him this is not baked and he said yes it is, I insisted is no, the he said yes is baked, i decided to touch the pan where food came in, everybody knows it should be hot, but was just Luke warm, and rice same way. As we were not comfortable eating Luke warm food I decided to stand up and ask a guy if they could warm it up, then Tony saved us, he is so kind , came to our table and he even said if we were not happy with the meal he could cancel the order or give us a new same dish or even different dish, we just wanted the same but hotter, our plan is not to ask discount or have a free meal. Then Tony took it from there, he brought our meal to the kitchen and few minutes later he came back with the same but re-done meal, totally different from. The first one and way hotter. If is not for him we would have been very disappointed. To our surprise is that, He took actions and he didn't even think twice or didn't even have to ask to his manager what to do in this situation. Thank you so much Tony you are a totally saver, and I was super surprised that he speaks Spanish, highly recommend this place and ask for Tony he is a very nice guy. And thank you to the guys that cook, but please be honest when it comes to food, take your time and deliver what the menu says, we are not professionals but we can recognize the food. Keep up the good work

The newly opened HK Macau Bistro is a delightful new addition to SGV, bringing the rich flavors of Macau's fusion cuisine to the local dining scene. The decor, reminiscent of Macau's vibrant gambling heritage, features neon lights and mahjong tables, creating a trendy and inviting atmosphere. The menu shines with traditional dishes like the pork chop bun, a Macanese classic. Here, it's prepared to perfection--crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The Macau beef brisket curry impresses with its depth of flavor, offering a more intense taste compared to its Hong Kong counterpart, and the brisket's tenderness is exceptional. Another standout is the Macau soul crushing rice bowl, a beloved street food item that combines savory char siu, a runny egg, and sweet soy sauce for a comforting and flavorful dish. To complement the meal, the silk stocking filtered milk tea is a must-try, smooth and rich in taste. In summary, HK Macau Bistro is a must-visit for anyone seeking to explore the culinary delights of Macau. With its authentic dishes and unique ambiance, it promises a memorable dining experience. I'm eagerly anticipating my next visit to try more of their offerings.

We woke up late and got here right after 11 am. on Sunday and missed the breakfast service. Not only that, there were at least 10 groups waiting ahead of us. We had no choice but to order take-out.

Tip: Come early on weekends if you don't want to wait. They don't take reservations.

We got the Chicken Steak and Egg Pineapple Bun. The chicken was juicy with a light mayo dressing added to the lettuce and tomato. It was messy to eat holding the pineapple bun with the flaky top. So, you got the savory chicken on a sweet bun. My brain was confused and sort of miss the slab of butter that normally comes in the traditional pineapple bun. I didn't love it but also didn't dislike it. It was a very filling sandwich. 3.5/5.

The HK style ice lemon tea is legit. 4/5.

I would love to dine in next time and try other items on their vast menu.

Oh, their hours are 8am to...
