No. 8 on the Bund restaurant in San Gabriel beautifully captures the essence of its Shanghai namesake. While it may lack the stunning Bund view, it more than compensates with its impressive array of authentic Shanghainese cuisine. I was particularly enamored with their grilled whole fish in scallion and Shanghainese sauce—a dish that truly transported me back to the flavors of Shanghai. Equally delightful was the noodle in scallion oil, boasting a remarkable authenticity and flavor.
One of the standout features of this restaurant is its exceptional value. With lunch offerings priced at under $12, you can savor your favorite dishes without breaking the bank. The extensive menu offers a plethora of choices, and I highly recommend indulging in their fried dumplings and the universally beloved braised pork belly. The attentive and friendly service further enhances the dining experience.
Upon stepping inside, the decor immerses you in Shanghai's charm, adorned with Shanghai-style photos and wall art. While the restaurant may not provide the iconic Bund view, it undeniably captures the essence of Shanghainese cuisine and culture. Peanut & Port Feet Soup. This dish was a revelation! The soup was incredibly flavorful and had a unique nutty richness that was both comforting and satisfying. The addition of port feet added a delightful texture and depth to the soup, making it a must-try.
The Stir-Fried Pork Kidneys and Liver were equally impressive. The dish was skillfully prepared, and the flavors were well-balanced. The pork kidneys and liver were cooked to perfection – tender and succulent, without a hint of overcooking. The seasoning was spot on, making every bite a delightful experience. Pair it with some steamed rice, and you're in for a treat!
Braised Eels with Bamboo Shoots was a delightful combination of flavors and textures. The eels were tender, and the bamboo shoots added a nice crunch, creating a harmonious dish that paired wonderfully with rice. The ambiance at The Bund 8 was cozy and inviting, creating a perfect atmosphere for a memorable dining experience. The staff was attentive and friendly, always ready to assist and provide...

We paid $100 for 3 persons with 3 dishes. At the end of dinner, every table is served with dessert for every aingle person.
Our table only.served just one little pathetic bowl. We made the inquiry why only one bowl for 3 persons. The waitress n the owner replied that this is what is left. Take it or leave it!
