Our favorite Mexican Restaurant, “Tu Mero Mole,” was closed on Sunday and will be closed on Sundays temporarily since they are currently short-staffed. So, when we discovered they were closed, we looked at Reviews and decided to try this restaurant with such high reviews. We were very disappointed. Both my husband and I felt that the food was the worst Mexican food we’ve ever tried. The food was bland and unseasoned; their three salsas were okay, not great, but better than their food. We don’t understand why they have so many good reviews? Honestly, my chicken fajitas were the worst I’ve ever had at any Mexican Restaurant; the chicken was not seasoned and didn’t look like fajitas. It tasted like the worst cooked frozen chicken that someone microwaved and didn’t season because they knew nothing about cooking Mexican food. The rice was below average and dry with no flavor just like the refried beans. My husband wanted to try the chicken Sky Burrito since many had written good reviews about it; unfortunately, he also didn’t like his meal and agreed that the food appeared to be prepared by someone who obviously is not a chef and knows nothing about cooking Mexican food. The double crispy shrimp tacos were okay and we give it 2 stars compared to the other two dishes but also the tacos lacked any flavor or seasoning; the very crispy or “double crispy” tacos were not even in color so most of this bread was not fried or crispy. Their food is so bland and unseasoned that you need a lot of salsa and hot sauces in order to eat it; all three salsas they offered were below average in flavor and we were given a small amount. They didn’t even ask us if we wanted any salsa or hot sauces so we had to ask if they had any kind of salsa or hot sauces. My husband agreed that the food was very bland and we will not be going here again.
Honestly, we both felt like this place makes Chipotle look like an authentic Mexican Restaurant. People who are writing positive reviews have obviously not eaten fine Mexican food. Tu Mero Mole has very delicious food regardless of what you order and their food is actually better than many of the fine Mexican Restaurants we experienced in Mexico.
My husband and I are not Mexican but we know that this place does not offer authentic Mexican food and even Chipotle has more flavorful food! Sorry to write a negative review but I really don’t understand why anyone would give this restaurant a good reviews since their food was terrible. I usually eat half of my meal the next day but I barely touched my food the night we tried this restaurant.
The location is terrible since the small parking lot has designated a few spaces for each business. Fortunately, the nail salon was closed and I parked in one of their customer parking spaces. Hope they hire...
Read moreI'm kind of disappointed with the food. I have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant for a while, since my favorite place Alicia's Cafe on Union closed. I am picky about Mexican food due to being Hispanic and growing up with the best Mexican cooks that I've ever known, my mother and aunts. I never really liked to eat at Mexican restaurant, because I cook it very well myself at home; I've learned from the beat. However, since my two sons have grown and moved out of our home recently and it's just me, I find it hard to cook just for one person. Plus I hold two jobs and work 60 sometimes 60+ a week, so I really don't cook have time to cook. I think a lot of Mexican restaurant over use the word "Authentic" when it's not. I ordered the Enchiladas Verde and the sauce was too bland. The salsa that came with my chips was too mild. I understand Mexican Restaurant needing to cater to the white folks and that is why they make the salsa mild, but they should also make a batch of salsa that has a kick to it. Again, I've been searching for a true authentic Mexican restaurant and this place is just not it. I will keep searching. By the way I gave it a 2 star for cleaness and good customer service, but I didn't come here just for those things, I came for good food. Don't get me wrong the cleaness and customer service is important, but without the quality of the food it just doesn't matter, otherwise I would have given it a 0 star if it was possible. However, I will come back and give them one more chance by trying something else on their menu, like red enchiladas to see if they do a better job on the red sauce rather than green. I'll keep...
Read moreWe dined today and felt so bad that I wanted to review right away.
After spending more than 80$ for a sub-par food, we saw such bad attitude from the people running this place. I don’t know if the owner is reading or is aware of such inconsistent and terrible service provided by the severs. Here are a few things:
We were told to order at the counter and wait at a table, while we saw 2 gentleman being escorted to the table next to us, by the same guy like 20 mins later. And icing on the cake is that a server showed up 2 mins later to take order from them and those gentlemen’s got the food and drinks in like 5 mins. Why such discrepancies in treating people? Do they prefer a certain type of customers?
My daughter and I got the food (noting that I dint get the corn tacos, which I decided to ignore for my sanity) while my wife and son had to wait for additional 20 mins to get their veggie burritos. So, families should come with expectations that it is basically individual dinning and you may have to look at your loved one’s wait while you are enjoying your own meal?
We requested ketchup and the server ack. And not to be surprised that she didn’t get it. I decided to go ask them and to my laugh the server had it with her and maybe thought that it will get delivered on it’s own :)
And, the best part is that we left this restaurant and stopped at a fast food place to get edible food (because the veggie burritos were really tasteless).
Please avoid this place...
