I have been going to this Taqueria (Alams Taqueria is a food truck restaurant at the south east corner of Curtner Ave. and Union Ave.) for several years now. The people are there pretty nice and foods are also pretty good considering that this is a mobile truck taqueria. Another big plus going to this taqueria is the convenience. The truck is parked in the parking lot of gas station. This gas station however offers one of the lowest gas prices in San Jose. I therefore go there often during my lunch hour to fill both my stomach and the gas tank of my SUV .
Then many people may wonder why I am giving them a one star rating. Well apparently, I encountered a very unethical behavior with one of the workers there today (06/011/2021).
I went there today again during my lunch hour (at around 12:30 pm). Typically I order my food & drink, pay with cash, and most time drop a buck or two in their tip jar. I also typically never check the receipt nor price. And I am sure most trusting citizens and consumers typically do the same as we (trust-worthy people) typically trust others as well.
Well today, I saw the same worker at the cash register and he invited me with a smile. I ordered a (Carne Asada) Regular Burrito. The guy even remembered how I like my burrito of having the hot sauce (salsa) inside the burrito instead of packing it separately. I complimented him by saying thank you. I normally order a drink along with my food but today, I already had my drink in the car. When he knew that my order was just a burrito, he said the price was $12.00.
I don't know why but I happened to look at the price listing on the side of the truck. There were no price for Regular Burrito but Super Burrito was listed as $10.99. Puzzled, because I know Super Burrito is usually dollar or two more expensive (it contains extra avocado and sour cream but I don't like those in my burrito).
I asked the guy, "How much is Carne Asada Super Burrito?" I felt right away from his voice that he is now irritated. Instead of answering my question, he asked me back, "What do you want? Do you want Super Burrito or Regular Burrito?" I answered, "I just want to know the price difference between Super and Regular Burrito." He then replied back "Super Burrito is $12.01."
I don't know how he got $12.01 (because $10.99 plus sales tax of 9.875% would come out to $12.07.) Nevertheless, Super Burrito being $12.01 (or $12.07) vs Regular Burrito being $12.00 (after sales tax) just didn't make sense to me. I asked him back the justification of one cent price difference between the two but then, he became very defensive. I left without placing my order.
I am not sure if this behavior was just for today or has been going for last 5 years I’ve been going there. I also am not sure if I am going to go back there again (Convenience is something I don’t want to loose also.), but if I do, I will always check the price and the receipt...
Read moreThey answered on the first ring, took my order easily (even tho I was non standard… did not want rice in my burrito) & told me I could pick up in 7 min. It was ready when I arrived and oh, so delicious! My body says they use clean ingredients & good practices because, I did not feel heavy after eating this enormous burrito. The people are friendly and on the ball. I gave a three for ambiance only because this is a food truck & the ambiance is wherever you take the food from there. It’s a bland, safe but not beautiful corner. Alam’s shares a parking lot w some kind of car biz (gas station?).
Worth returning!! Yummy & your body will appreciate the clean, home made food!
Delicious fresh...

I've tried many places and a burrito is usually a burrito; both tasty and filling. But Alams stands out.
Their food is always packed with flavor, prepared quickly, and at a fair price. It doesn't hurt that the location is very convenient for me.
I came to Google Maps to update what I'm sure was a five-star review, only to be surprised that I hadn't yet written one. So here's my update:
My experience with my super burrito from Alams on May 27, 2022 stands out. The burrito was larger than usual and extra tasty. Maybe I was simply very hungry, but I enjoyed it even more than anticipated (and my expectations were already high).
Keep it up Alams!...
