Champa Kitchen is a beloved halal Vietnamese restaurant that recently reopened in the Berryessa neighborhood of San Jose. Although I'm not the biggest Vietnamese fan, I can confirm the food still holds up after the relocation. In terms of quality, I enjoyed the Shaking Beef "Bo Luc Lac" the most. I was also happy with the Fried Egg Noodle (with chicken), Champa Lamb, & Champa Rendang. I was surprised to see an Indonesian dish, but the restaurant takes inspiration across Southeast Asian. My friends enjoyed the pho & noodle soups. Despite quality being overall high, quantity (and thus value) is a bit mixed. Sometimes the portions tend to be on the small side, especially the rice plates which may not even fill up one person. However, the soups provide more bang for buck. The restaurant aesthetic is simple but fairly clean. There is a small prayer area if you need it. The service was fine, too. Since halal Vietnamese food is so rare in the US, I would encourage anyone (especially Muslims) to give Champa Kitchen a shot. These small businesses are worth patronizing.

Great experience at this halal pho spot! This is the first halal pho spot I have found in the Bay. The restaurant was clean and welcoming, and the service was incredibly kind and attentive from the moment we walked in. The food came out hot and steamy — just the way pho should be. The broth was rich and flavorful, with the perfect balance of spices. I recommend the beef pho (it was so soft) but we also tired the seafood one and it was tasty. Generous portions as well. Lastly tried the lamb curry, good flavor! Highly recommend if you're craving something warm, hearty, and made with care. And it’s all halal! Bonus they even have a prayer spot!

Truly some of the most delicious and tender beef I’ve ever had. You must get the shaking beef when you come, it is melt in your mouth delicious and ask for it spicy if you like spice. Truly outstanding, we also got the bon bu hue which was comforting and so flavourful and the beef rendang was also packed with flavour. I would honestly keep coming back just to have the shaking beef! It was also nice and clean and the food came out in a timely manner + place to pray!

“I don’t usually leave reviews, but Champa Kitchen absolutely deserves one. Finding halal pho is rare enough, but finding it this good feels like a blessing. The broth was rich, flavorful, and clearly simmered with care — comforting without being too heavy. The portions are generous, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. The staff were warm and welcoming, making the whole experience feel like you were being taken care of by family. I left full, happy, and already planning my next visit. If you’re looking for authentic flavors, halal options, and a place that makes you feel at home, this is it....
