My two friends and I went to the King Egg Roll restaurant in Milpitas about a month ago. I gave it a three-star rating. The same two friends and I came to this, the original, King Egg Roll four weeks later on Friday, 5/31/2019.
We arrived early at around 11:20 AM so the order line was short. But the number of people came in and carried out trays of pre-ordered food was amazing. Literally non-stop! The food has to be fresh cause they sell so much so quick. The persons behind the counter had to go back to the kitchen to bring out trays of food to replenish.
I ordered the same food as I did at the other King Egg Roll, egg rolls and fried chickens. This place still has the best egg roll and fried chicken. I noticed the price did go up. Egg roll is $1.35 a piece instead of $1.15. And the fried chicken went up to $1.15 from $0.99 a piece. But it is still the cheapest of the three King Egg Roll restaurants. I won’t be back to the Milpitas location but I’ll come here again and again. :)
4/26/2020. Stopped there to pick up a few egg rolls and fried wings on my way to see my mom. When I got there one person was ordering food so I stayed six feet behind him. Another couple arrived they stayed around 5, 6 feet behind me almost at the door. More people arrived and they kept the distance so the line was form outside the door. Still my favorite place for Vietnamese egg rolls.
10/25/2020. Stopped here to pick up some eggrolls and fried chicken wings. There were 4 parties before me forming a line outside the restaurant. The wait wasn’t bad. I was done in 10 minutes. What can I say about their comfort food. ...
Read moreThis restaurant does like a Chinese takeout where you select entrees and your side, and it also serves Vietnamese food.
From my experience, the food is alright and cheap. It doesn’t really stand out much, but at the same time, it doesn’t taste bad. I’d say that the fried rice tastes slightly better than the rest of the food. At least the portion sizes are big that I can’t even finish the rest, but this seems to be also at the cost of food quality.
It’s really hot inside here and I thought that this restaurant has much seatings, but when I walked inside, they only have one table with few seats sitting at the edge of the wall. Plus, it’s hot outside. No AC especially during the summer time. I wanted to dine-in here but it’s not really a good place to do that especially during the summer time.
I even asked for a chicken eggroll, but this was a vegetable one? Not sure though since I don’t often eat those. Either way, it’s fine. It’s just Chinese takeout and I don’t really expect much.
I’d say that the place is fine for eating out during lunch. If you’re just hungry, you can swing by...
Read moreI was told to go to King Eggroll because it's a San Jose institution, the best eggrolls ever. We need vegetarian ones, and I was assured they had them. The place is in a small strip mall, next to a launderette. It. Never would have caught my eye. Inside, there was a steam table with a selection of prepared options, most of them containing meat. Without the endorsement, I would not have strayed. They agreed they had veggie eggrolls when I asked, but they had to be made to order if I could wait. When they arrived they were hot and fresh and lovely. Maybe not the best in the world, but very good. Annoyingly, I keep getting a craving for them and wasn't to go back, but haven't made time. Someday I will. Pity I can't order other foods...
