Similarly, their sake list also fell short. While they did offer a few options, the selection lacked diversity and failed to capture the essence of premium sake. As a lover of Japanese cuisine, I believe that a restaurant with a focus on Asian flavors should prioritize a well-curated sake list that complements their dishes. Regrettably, this was not the case at Din Tai Fung.

It would have been wonderful to see a more extensive and thoughtful selection that could truly elevate the dining experience.

Enter the dumpling kingdom! I honestly feel if Benjamin "Bubba" Buford Blue wasn't into shrimp this would be his dream. We've been to this place multiple times and left super stuffed and satisfied always. We've tried the following: Cucumber salad: A little spice yet refreshing. They look beautiful too on your table glazed with chilli oil. It's a great accompaniment with any dumpling.

XLBs: Crab & Kurobuta Pork, Kurobuta Pork: The best pork entree! Nuf said.

Dumplings: Chicken: They look appetizing. Honestly all the dumplings do. The meat is right amount of juicy. You just can't have enough of these. We end up having multiple orders of this every time. Cod: Good fishy taste. You can tell the fish is fresh too. Shrimp & Kurobuta: You do get shrimp. Tasty shrimp at that even though it is just steamed and of-course the pork is delicious. Kimchi & Kurobuta pork: We did not like this too much but was a good variation from our usuals.

Chicken & Mushroom Buns: The buns were really good. Not too chewy. The filling was lesser than expected but tasty nevertheless.

Wontons: Chicken Spicy, Vegetable & Kurobuta Pork Spicy: Can never go wrong with these. The sauces for the wontons are delectable. Request these to be brought out early if you prefer it that way, since they tend to get these last by default. We enjoy dipping our dumplings in these sauces as well.

Noodles: Sesame sauce: Noodles are cooked to perfection and served in an artistic fashion. The sesame sauce taste is not overpowering at all and there is a pretty good balance for taste. Spicy sauce: These tasted similar to the spicy wontons. You could get either one if you're not a huge fan of spicy sauce. Definitely worth trying though.

Chocolate & Mochi XLB: The best desert to end any meal here. The chocolate is just irresistible. They do give you a fresh set of plates and chopsticks for the desserts.

Gravity, Junmai Daiginjo: Yes they also have a bar with very knowledgeable bar tenders. We're pleasantly surprised to find out that they do not overcharge for the sakes on their menu!

Ambience: Very lively. Always busy. It is located on the first floor of the Westfield mall. If you do not have a reservation be prepared to wait in line for at least an hour and be seated at the bar. Highly recommend reserving in advance. Process: You'll need to write down the order count next to the entree in the menu sheet provided. Your server will confirm your order once you're done. First time having DTF in Cali! I've been to the Seattle locations A LOT when I was living there. This location is definitely pricier than the Seattle ones.

Stopped by for July 4th brunch right when they opened at 11! We started waiting in line at 10AM. Staff mentioned (when I called a day or two earlier to confirm they were going to be open) that people usually start waiting at least 30 min beforehand. I wanted to play it safe since it was the holidays so arrived a few min after 10. We were the first ones there! To be honest, it would probably be ok to show up 30 min before they open and you should still probably get sat in the first round.

We parked in the Monroe Parking garage. No validation. First 2 hours free, then its $1 every hour after I believe. This garage is the closest one to DTF!

Service was a bit slow. It was odd for being the first one's sat, that our server hadn't come around yet. Even a table sitting next to us like 7-8 min after us were served ahead of us.

We ordered quite a bit of food for 2! -Pear lychee margarita: well mixed! But took awhile to come out. -Pork XLB: staple! As good as ever! Perfect bites with their vinegar :D -Shrimp and pork spicy wonton: another staple. We added plain noodles ($6.50) to mix together. A bit on the pricier end for just plain noodles. Also a bit odd they wouldn't just put the noodles underneath the wontons (all Seattle locations had did this for us prior) -Shrimp and pork pot stickers: nice and crispy..delicious! -Pork chop fried rice: always order for us!

What I like about DTF is that it is consistent across the board (usually). This location follows suit. Had a great meal! Just wished the service was a bit better and faster. Also, not the biggest fan of how they bring out the food. The server kept printing receipts out one by one for each of the items. Our carbs ended up coming in last...so that definitely shouldn't be a thing.

I asked the folks outside after how long the wait was. They mentioned it was going to be 2-3 hours haha. You can also eat at the bar, that is walk in!
