El Grullo Taqueria — Restaurant in San Jose

A wrong turn brought me into this parking lot. I decided to go in. I am so glad that I did. This is a casual place. Nothing fancy but they have a nice selection to choose from. The choices are many. From burritos to tacos, tamales, combination plates, caldo, menudo, huevos rancheros. You name it, they have it. It is a small place but with tables and chairs so you can dine in. I ordered a regular chile verde burrito with beans, no rice or onions. I placed my order to go, gave my name and got ready to wait. I only waited 3 minutes and my name was called. Very fast service. I highly recommend that everyone stop in to try it. The chile verde and the beans were the best I have ever had. I ordered the Chili Verde plate thru door dash and it was trash ! ! I have never ordered from this restaurant and I was so disappointed. The pork meat had no flavor, it’s chili right ? You would think they’d put some salt or something throw in a garlic with the meat, something. I called DoorDash to get a refund and they understood, thank god. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone and if they ask I’ll tell them to go somewhere else. I also called the restaurant to further complain because I was so shocked! The food quality is excellent here! I ordered a Carne Asada burrito and it was very delicious! The meat was very flavorful and there was a good amount of filling inside the burrito. The salsa served on the side was also very flavorful. Even the lemon was extra ripe and juicy.

The jamaica was very good - flavorful and not too sweet. They didn’t fill the cup with too much ice either.

I ordered my meal to go with some modifications in the server got it exactly right the first time. She was very kind.
