The hotel stay was one of the worst I’ve ever had. The owner is stingy and beyond rude! I asked for extra towels as she gave us the bare minimum that was not enough for us. She refused and said I had to bring back my used towels before I received new ones? Isn’t that what housekeeping is for? Not to mention that these towels were not the best and were dingy and felt like sandpaper… I asked for an extra blanket as well because what she provided for the room were not blankets… they were super thin covers! And I have trouble regulating body temperature as I’m anemic and she literally refused to give me an extra blanket! Then immediately got defensive and asked if I was bringing more people? We were quiet and not causing any issues. She literally did not let housekeeping come by our room at all either. I kept asking the owner if housekeeping could come by and take out our trash and give us clean towels but she literally did not and just kept giving me excuses. The room was so dirty couldn’t even walk on the floor barefoot without picking up literal filth! The pool was absolutely disgusting and had a dead roach in it so wouldn’t recommend that either. Not to mention, the way she treated her housekeepers and maintenance was absolutely unacceptable! The way she talks down to them and yells at them in front of guests is so unprofessional and not okay! The housekeeper and maintenance were not very fluent in English and she had the audacity to tell them “do you seriously not understand English?” Which I found not only discriminatory but honestly kind of racist… When I checked in, she demanded a cash deposit on the room which I found very odd. And when I checked out and went to ask for my deposit back she tried saying that I paid the deposit with my credit card and I did not. Then she said she had to inspect the room first. She took her sweet time and when she did inspect the room she was beyond ridiculous checking the blinds the windows and literally just trying to find a reason to keep my deposit! I thankfully got it back as we did not damage the room but like it’s a motel 6… this woman is ridiculous and beyond stingy! Don’t waste...
Read more(see update below) DO NOT STAY HERE. The way I was treated at Motel 6 was beyond unacceptable. On the final evening of a 5 night reservation while attending a conference, I returned to my room to find my belongings had been removed. After inquiring at the front desk, I was told that I had been put on a 'do not rent list' due to being seen by security cameras with a 'female guest',which was against the terms and conditions of the room.
This accusation was totally false, and I assumed there must have been a mistake which could be easily rectified by looking at the security footage. However, rather than helping me, the staff member told me that I could not speak to the manager, and then told me that the police had been called and I had 5 minutes to leave the premises. This left me on on the streets of San Jose for the final night of a conference with my belongings in a black plastic bag.
It turned out that I had only been charged for 4 nights when I paid my bill, so is it possible that they double booked, didn't want to admit their mistake and so fabricated a reason to get rid of me? I have no way of knowing as multiple calls have gone unanswered, despite lodging a formal complaint with Motel 6 head office who have urged the general manager, Christian Brittain, to contact me.
I will continue to try and get my complaint addressed, but unless you want to find yourself stranded on the street, STAY AWAY.
UPDATE: I have managed to talk to the general manager after calling yet again. I was told that the accusation of an 'unregistered guest' was mistaken, but that I had been put on a 'do not rent' list anyway for not paying my full bill, which we agreed was the motel staff's mistake. The manager offered me a 50% refund and was courteous. However, given that I registered a complaint 4 days ago, and that my complaint went unacknowledged until I finally got through to the manager, I still feel this is not an acceptable way to treat...
Read moreFirst and last time at a Motel 6. There are so many transient guests that there is absolutely zero peace there. And, they literally leave the light on for you. My first floor room had blinds that would not close, so there was about a 6" gap. I used a keychain loop to link them at the top. When the front desk called to ask if everything was OK after I checked in, I mentioned "well, I'm on the first floor with a parking lot view and the blinds don't close", but she seemed pretty unphased by it.
The light in the outdoor walkway made it seem like broad daylight all night so the room was never actually dark. I know this next part was a one time thing, and maybe you'll get lucky if you stay here, but the upstairs guests above started "working" around 11PM and went all the way until 6AM. I have NO idea what the heck they were up to. They were running a printing press, cooking meth in the bathroom, who knows? But they literally made a ton of noise all night. It wasn't partying, either. They were "doing" something.
I was not about to call the front desk. I could just imagine getting shot as a result. 1AM, 3AM, 4:30, 5:00 "Uh, excuse me. The gentleman down below you says your are making to much noise." Let's face it, ANY noise from 3AM to 6AM is too much noise.
So, I will never be staying at another Motel 6. I'm an idiot for saving $200 in Sillicon Valley and not staying at a reputable place where you can actually get some sleep.
Too much light. Too much noise. Towels made of sandpaper and the feeling that I need to go home and completely disinfect everything I took there are enough deterant for me.
But best of luck to you if you choose...
