Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in San Jose

I enjoyed a very tasty soup I ordered. I was quite happy to be full and it was very easy on the stomach not bad for a first time here. Place is nice and clean doubles as a donut shop in the same space. Good service worker at the register. Answered one of my, I guess crazy questions it was answered I was kinda embarrassed to come out of no where. I was lead here from the street. I was walking in the side walk heading to the light. When suddenly I smelled a wonderful aroma of BBQ. So I followed my nose till I just walked right in after looking at the menu they had on the window. Made my selection and win for us good. When I googled for the closest L&L Hawaiian BBQ nearby, this popped up as the closest. This isn't even an L&L chain (trying to tell google about it atm)? I called and had a hard time placing my order with the woman (she didn't speak proper english) that picked up the phone. I did the take out option. I ordered the BBQ mix plate and BBQ chicken plate.

Their food tastes similar to L&L but I would prefer L&L for the following reasons... More quantity for your money (They provide more vegetables and rice on the side at L&L) than this plc. This plc charges $1.50 to change the macaroni side to vegetables.

BLAND! I'm shocked people have given this place 4-5 stars. Two family members ordered the steak plate. Meat was overcooked, veggies tasted watery from the steamer and had no flavor. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate and the macaroni was just okay. I've had better. Food was eatable but don't get me started about the disgusting sauce they included. It tasted old and bitter. We would not recommended this place to anyone. The run down decorations didn't bother us because that's not what makes a place but the food didn't hold up to...
