I have been to Papa's and Eggs a few times over the past year, almost always for breakfast. To be honest, I feel weird giving a breakfast joint a five star rating because....it's breakfast: eggs, bacon, stuff cooked on the griddle. We can get this in a lot of places. It is really kind of hard to screw breakfast up, you know what I mean? Serve it hot, serve it fresh, and serve it timely, and you can't go wrong. They do that here.
So how do I distinguish this place from any other breakfast joint? 1) I think the servers in this restaurant are exceptionally warm, friendly and attentive. The managers of this establishment really understand that they are in the service business, and my interactions with their employees demonstrates that. 2) Unlike other restaurants in the area, I can actually hold a conversation with my wife without shouting. Yep, I am in the senior citizen demographic, and this is important to me. There is no blaring music, loud televisions, or tables where you are eating elbow to elbow with the adjacent party. 3) They welcome everyone. I've seen them serve large families, young college age couples, and two women who knew how to enjoy more than a few Bloody Mary's.
Overall, this is a solid restaurant with good food, solid service, and a comfortable environment. I hope they stay...
Read moreWe love breakfast and had to try the new Papas and Eggs in Evergreen. We ordered a mocha and lavender latte. It was warm today so I decided to try the iced lavender latte with some oat milk. My husband and I love strong coffee and both drinks did not disappoint! The lavender syrup was sweet, but not overpowering. I’m definitely going to pass by and get this drink again! Hubby got the Steak Benedict and I got the Crab Cake Benedict. Steak was moist and tasty. Potatoes were not too salty and not greasy. Benedict sauce was tasty and the perfect consistency over the well poached eggs. The crab cakes were so yummy! It was not fishy and the diced peppers (I think they were bell peppers) added a crunch and kick to every bite. My only critique would be for the $22 price point for both, I would’ve loved a side salad or bit of fresh fruit on the side. The ambiance was great too. It reminds me a bit of dining in Portland or an earthy cafe in SoCal. I could potentially see a lot of business here. Would be great if they could have some of the smaller tables outside so we can enjoy the sun and warm weather. The servers were a little shy, but kind and approachable. We’ll definitely come back and bring family...
Read moreI’m so sorry. Even 3 stars seems generous. This place is even in my relative neighborhood but I did not enjoy the experience. Started out well as we got seated immediately. Ordered pretty quickly. But the food took nearly 45 minutes to be served. A bit of a long wait for eggs, I’d say. And it was only about two thirds full in there. I saw other people openly disgruntled about waiting too, I assume.
For the price ($23 eggs Benedict), the quality and or presentation of the food should be better. Maybe some garnish around the potatoes; a slice of fruit, some color. Potatoes were ok but bland. Benedict was nothing special. Brioche egg sandwich was pretty decent though.
I know it’s a soft opening but it was what it was. I personally don’t think the kitchen is big enough in capacity to serve the entire restaurant. I remember this was the same from the previous restaurant in this space. But the area badly needs a...
