It is a small, fast-food like Indian restaurant located in a strip shopping plaza near San Jose Library Aborn Branch, Food here is adequate for the price they charge. Cooking time is not fast but not slow. The dine-in area isn't that well-kept and designed, so I usually only order take out. My most ordered dish is their vegetable Biryani, which comes with a good amount of portion, and the various vegetable curries with paneer cheese. Of course, naans are also frequently ordered. For me, an order of Biryani and a type of curry could well last 2 to 3 meals, so it becomes a quite economic choice. Serving and way to do business-wise, not so impressed. More accurately, negatively impressed. The restaurant chain long has an online order system. It is adequately designed and easy to use and checkout. However, I am not sure if all their stores behave this way, but staff at the Aborn one has no habit of checking online orders, which seems to be sent via emails, nor setting alarms for online orders. Thus, the only one time I tried order online and went to pick up after waiting a good amount of time, I had to wait an additional 15 minutes because the staff never checked order emails and never knew my order was in the inbox. If restaurant crews are not familiar with the online order system, might as well just take that function out completely, since it is by no means make things more convenient for...

[1/24 update] - been a regular customer to this place and love their To-go snacks - their Masala vada and Samosa are our personal favorites which are authentic South Indian taste.... They also offer chai and makes a convenient drop in snack spot without having to pay fancy $$. The front desk guys are super friendly and very courteous and attentive to the requests. If you happen to be in the area., definitely stop by and taste their offerings... Been visiting this place over the weekends for pick up ....
Love the Vada varieties and the pakora which are yummy...the chutneys are a setback....oily and not tasty....we mostly dont consume this ....owners need to pay attention to this!
Otherwise 4/5 for the authentic taste.....and if you are the owner reading this.....please include chai in your menu atleast during...
Read moreThere's not a lot of great cuisine in this part of San Jose, so Peacock Indian Cafe is a lifeline for the work lunch! I am half Indian and so I was extremely happy to find a place in the US that actually makes a decent chapati (try it instead of naan sometime, especially if you like to eat with your hands as is traditional). Also, the butter chicken is the best I've had in the Bay Area! Honestly, I haven't tried anything else there, except the chai tea which is good but comes in laughable small glasses. Some of the other reviewers have complained that the service is unfriendly, but if you become a regular, then they will go way out of their way for you. This is not a sit-down place, but the owner (Bob) makes is a point to set a table for us now when we call an order in ahead of time. ...
