The Kickin' Crab — Restaurant in San Jose

Before coming here I saw a lot of miss reviews but I still wanted to come try it out myself before judging.

My mom and I came in around 3:30ish on a Thursday afternoon..it wasn’t busy so they told us we could sit anywhere.

The menu is digital..we decide on package one. We got 2lbs of shrimp head on and 1 lbs of mussels for our package..we also got an extra pound of shrimp too. We got hot with kickin style sauce. My mom and I also got fried calamari and garlic noodles. The food came out really quick!!! My mom and I really liked the kickin sauce!!! So freaking good over rice!!! The calamari was also very crunchy and good..and the garlic noodles with wonderful!!! Can’t go wrong with garlic noodles!!!

My expectations weren’t really high coming here because of all the bad reviews..but Kickin Crab ended up being way better then I excepted. The waiters were great..they were extremely attentive and kept checking in on us.

I want to note something..I saw other reviews that said things like they take really long here..my experience wasn’t like this at all..but when my mom and I paid the table next to us had just ordered..and by the time my mom and I got our change the waiter already brought that table their seafood boil (super quick)..but then the table was like where is our fried food..seriously? A little patients goes a long way..their seafood boil came in less than 5 minutes from the time they ordered..and of course fried food would take longer than seafood boil.

Come by and try Kickin Crab yourself..maybe you might have a great experience like my mom and I or maybe you won’t..but it’s better to come see...

I really appreciate that the location is so big and I really don't have to wait so long to get seated (usually it's just me and my boyfriend that goes and they have designated seating for small parties which is really nice). Since he's allergic to seafood, I'm really grateful that they allow him to bring in other food so he's not starving while I chow down.

Though I still prefer the seasoning over at Claw Shack more, this Kickin' Crab comes in a close second. They make their sauces seriously spicy if that is what you want. Their spicy edamame is just so good. I also love love love their cajun fries. They're just packed full of flavors and so crispy! I like their clams here, I don't know where they get their seafood from, but I've only had clams this big at this location. Usually I don't get clams at these kind of seafood places since it's mainly the shells that you get, but I never regret my decision whenever I get it here. Sometimes their supplies run out and there's no website that would tell you that, you have to just go and look at their posted sign on their doors (since I've gone, I believe that crawfish is usually out, but clams and mussels have been unavailable a few times).

There's a Kickin' Crab closer to me, and I've been to the one on Capitol, but I definitely prefer this...

I would give no star if I could. They gave me the wrong order, and I was walking towards my car in the parking lot dark at 8p.m. when suddenly one employee came from behind and grabbed my food bag with no explanation, and he walked back to the restaurant. Scared me and felt embarrassed because it seemed like I stole their food. The only explanation the manager gave me is that they had many orders, but the restaurant was half empty. He said I was the one who did not hear the name correctly. Let me tell you, I confirmed my name before getting the bag, and they gave me the incorrect food bag. The manager did not apologize. I ordered to take out in advance by calling, and they said would be ready in 15 minutes. I checked in upon my arrival, and they told me to wait and still took one hour to give me the incorrect food. I had to take whatever was ready, and to get the wings would take another 15 minutes. I did not take the wings, and they just did a refund for the wings. I don't like to judge people by their looks, race, origin, etc, but I have to admit that I felt discriminated by these employees. Almost all employees are Asian, and Asian customers were getting their food to take home right away. I felt discriminated. I won't come again. Very...
