Tindahan Pinoy — Restaurant in San Jose

In my book, validation for any authentic Filipino restaurant is how well they can execute breakfast. That said, we ordered their Tocilog (sweet cured pork with garlic rice & egg) and their Cornsilog (corned beef/potatoes with garlic rice & egg). We also ordered Lumpiang Shanghai (ground pork eggrolls).

Here is my verdict: Tocilog: Not your traditional tocino that is flavorful with a nice glazy texture. It was more of dried textured grilled pork with a flavor that I could not make out. It was different. Cornsilog: The better of the two dishes, as the corned beef was very well seasoned and generously portioned with the garlic rice. Lumpiang Shanghai: Tasty, well fried, but not homemade.

This is an actual little hole in the wall place. So it's not the place you go to with a group of friends to eat. It's only got 1 or 2 tables. I've sat at 1 once, but usually I get it to go. I've also seen people come in to grab their large order & head back home.

THIS is the place you come to if you just want to grab some tasty Filipino food & bring it somewhere. It's also a great place to try Filipino you've never had it. Because the people that work there are very friendly & patient.

Stopped by here on a Saturday morning while waiting for my tattoo appointment. They have a lot of options for combinations. The garlic rice is really good. I came in with a craving for corned beef and longanisa already so it was pretty much a done deal for me. It all tasted really great!

The staff are really really nice and very accommodating. They also have a lot of suggestions if you don't know what you want. They have a few tables and chairs if you choose to eat there. They also have a few other Filipino snacks and popular Filipino condiments and sauces as well. Definitely worth stopping by if you have a craving for some Filipino foods.
