Las Golondrinas Mexican Food — Restaurant in San Juan Capistrano

Golondrinas are these cute birds that go chirp chirp, nice little birds, but Las Golondrinas Mexican Food are out to get the palate less lemmings that crowd their counters without fail. Why so harsh, you may ask? I will explain: Went there for Taco Tuesday at the suggestion of a very bad advice from a member of our family. Mentions of outstanding tacos for a $1, filled with meats, made it sound oh so good! We do not reside in the area, were passing through for other business, so I decided to stop and order the tacos. I ordered 10 Carne Asada and 5 Carnitas, waited for about 12 minutes, and since I had requested the order be made to go, I saw as the aluminum foil wrapped tacos were diligently put into a brown bag. Asked for salsa, was told it was extra. Also, tacos were $1.60 not $1, prices had evidently shot upwards. Upon arriving to our home we opened the tacos ready to enjoy them. To my surprise the tacos had about 70% beans. Who, in his sane mind, would order tacos made out of beans? Most places served the meat of choice with salsa, and there you go. The reason they fill their tacos with beans is very simple: less meat. The quality of the tacos was way below par, with steamed double tortillas that frankly, tasted dull. Then again, they had a full staff of about 14 working there, and the crowds kept coming. When I asked how good was the fare I was given the answer of delicious which is a total shock after trying these very crappy bean tacos with a dash of carne asada and carnitas. Well, out of $24 plus? I must urge to anyone of a mind to visit this place to seriously pay attention at their cost cutting ways, and at their expensive menu items, which would be all fine and dandy if this Golondrina was a cut as the birdies with their name, but it is not. Been here a couple times because I like their carne asada nachos and its convenient. I must warn you, theyre very unwelcoming and have bad customer service. They dont even want to take your order. Its a drag or makes them angry that they have customers. Guess they dont need my money by ignoring the person standing 1 foot away from the counter waiting to be greeted, or to order food.
