Our favorite new Italian restaurant locally in San Juan Capistrano. Holy meatballs in spaghetti sauce.....we tried the new Limoncello Ristorante and will be back for superb Italian dining. I felt as though we were being hosted at someone's home for dinner. From the moment we arrived i felt pampered. The atmosphere is so hospitable and friendly, yet refined and elegant. You will find the owners making sure your experience is "over the top". We started with the butternut squash and brown butter ravioli as our appetizer and some incredible foccacia bread with olive tapenade. So very delicious and unique! Our entrees were both divine and we ended our special meal with the Delizia Al Limoncello - Biscotti layered with Limoncello Zabaione Cream and Strawberries. This restaurant is truly special! My wife and I tried Limoncello for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Authentic Italian food is very hard come to by locally. I lived in Europe for years and was frustrated by the many Italian restaurants that "Americanize" their dishes to local tastes... Not here thank goodness! Limoncello is as authentic an Italian restaurant as you will find! We had the Burrata & Prosciutto, Fettuccine Bolognese, Pappardelle Salsiccia and Tiramisu and espresso. All were truly delicious, authentic, a real taste of classic Italian cuisine! The atmosphere is refreshingly subtle. No cheesy over the top Italian clichés like in some other local restaurants.
