Note: reservations are a must during the weekend! We decided to go there on a whim after a great massage next door and we're lucky enough a different party didn't show up to their reservation. We waited outside while one of the servers/hostess figured out somethings. Communication could have been better but alas we were seated and promptly served. Food was delicious! The Totoya roll is a must, it just melts. The salmon skin hand roll was super crunchy, caterpillar and eel and avocado rolls were smooth and velvety. Not too pricey but we also didn't order alcohol.

Totoya has become my wife and my favorite sushi spot. Try their Gyoza. It’s our favorite appetizer. I like the sushi sampler while my wife likes the rolls. Her favorites are the Fiesta rolls, Marbella, and caterpillar roll. The ambiance is great there but the place is small. Sitting outside is the best is the weather is right which it usually is in San Juan Capistrano. I like this spot even better than Gen Kai in Dana Point which is our friend’s favorite spot. Been to both. This place way better! 😁

This is an authentic sushi restaurant and more than 5 stars! Enjoy lunch or dinner here, if it’s the weekend make dinner reservations. Fresh fish, perfectly prepared with unique ingredients and offerings on the menu. They have sushi rolls, Totoya roll is incredible with no rice, salads, main fish entrees, sushi bowls, etc. their tapas includes crispy tuna rice and fried jalapeño with spicy ahi. They serve beer, wine and sake.

Dirty food, dirty employees. Absolutely and strictly for those with the lowest food and hygiene standards. Wouldn't ever think that this hole in the wall would ever survive in an mid-upper class neighborhood. Guess that goes to show that a fair amount of the people who eat here are probably not local and if they are they are definitely gross. Food and service was so nasty that I didn't even think twice about touching it. ( mens hair was on the sushi plate, waitress stuck her thumb into the soup and rice and she was very sloppy, the cup with the tea was dirty and had lint and fuzz all around the rim )

I guess the blind old people who live here can't tell. But how can you miss the dirty floors and unclean ceiling???

I wouldn't dare say that I wouldn't even feed my dog this garbage, but I would even feel guilty feeding the coyotes who live outdoors as this gross mess I dare not call Food, will definitely give diarrhea to anyone who is used to...

I was torn whether or not to mention this little gem because I love the mom & pop feel of the place. The restaurant itself only fits 20-25 people but the food is worth it. Check our their tapas list which boast an array of fusion style delights. I personally had a fit over their Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna. Actually...anything with their spicy tuna is amazing. Also try their specialty sushi - I had one with truffle salt that was heaven and another with a basil sauce that was SO flavorful. All that and it was pretty affordable. A $20 sake bottle, 3 tapas, 2 sets of sushi and full roll, it was about $60 for two of us. No bad! Hands down, my favorite sushi spot. Totoya is located in a small shopping center so make sure to...

My family & I dined at this restaurant for first time last week. We recently moved across the street so we had to give it a try. The food was not as good as other local sushi restaurants ; the service was tremendously worse. In all honesty I believe it was the service that made the entire experience, including the food terrible. The soup taste like water, and the sushi had a very odd smell to it. I don’t know about other people however, when I go out to a restaurant, I expect good customer service and a smile on a face. Fail at both of those things and you will get a better view & a never...
