Café El Secreto — Restaurant in San Juan

Update on the review. We came back and it was just as good as the first time. Employees were very helpful and the food was excellent. My wife had a scrambled veggie with toast and coffee and I had the ham and veggie omelette with waffles and fruit. Also had a lemon juice which was delicious. Did not dissappoint. This is one of the best places to eat breakfast. Plenty of parking and easily accesible.

First time there and will be back. Wife had a veggie and ham omelette with toast and I had the veggie only with hash brown. Ordered a waffle to try. The food was just great. Omelette was a good size, savory, plenty of veggies, toast was a little soggy, too much butter. The waffle was excellent as well. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. Cafe El Secreto is a solid spot with good pricing and tasty food, but the service could use some improvement. Our server was friendly but lacked attention to detail—she promised to bring Nutella on the side but forgot, and instead of a cup of water, she brought a bottled one without asking.

Additionally, when ordering French toast, she made it seem like protein would be included for free, but we were actually charged for it, which was a bit misleading.

That said, the food was good, and the coffee was enjoyable. The only downside to the atmosphere is that the interior seating felt a bit cramped.

Overall, it’s a nice spot with fair prices, but better communication and attention to detail in service would make the experience...

The space is very small inside, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but if it was busy, it would be uncomfortable. The servers were kind and hospitable. The latte was very disappointing. I think Puerto Rico has some of the best coffee in the world, but my latte tasted like it came out of a machine. I couldn’t even finish it. We ordered the Super Breakfast, which was great! And then the Waffle Sandwich, which we did not enjoy. Maybe it’s my pallet but I did not enjoy bbq sauce and mayo on my eggs/meat (wasn’t written in description so I was thrown off too).
