I visited this place yesterday at 6pm. The place was almost empty and all the personnel loomed eager to serve and were in khaki colors which seemed very nice. The atmosphere is amazing. Once you enter you get transported to a cool, contemporary and somewhat rainforesty place. We could only get a reservation at the bar since everything was taken. "Chino" was our server and he explained the whole menu to us. Unfortunately the cocktail menu was not available but it is in the works. The bar stools are somewhat uncomfortable but the atmosphere makes you feel at ease. We started with a classic Pisco sour which was refreshing and spot on. My wife ordered the chicha morada milk punch (clarified drink), and this was the superstar. Refreshing, smoky (mezcal) and balanced. Water from the house was served as well, and now a days that is a biggg plusss. We started with the octopus tacos. Wow this were exceptional. The octopus very tender, the wonton as a vehicle for the octopus was perfect and the condiments paired in perfect harmony. Since our appetitte was not as big we ordered the carretillero ceviche and the chicken chaufa. The presentation of the ceviche really challenges a michellin star restaurant. All the toppings (choclo, cancha, plantains...) worked very well with the ceviche. Beautifull and very tasty plate. The only thing is that the marinade, sauce was a little too milky or thick for my taste. A little on the heavier side for my taste, but otherwise it was amazing. The chaufa was made with jasmin rice and topped with a spicy sauce (kind of spicy mayo). The chicken was juicy and it was really easy to eat. Overall the plate was very good. Portion wise, both plates can be shared. Unfortunately to finish the dessert ee chose sounded promising but really was a miss. We chose the Coco parcha. Which is a coconut shell (made in chocollate) filled with coconut mousse and passion fruit mermelade. In a bed of sand (represented by toasted coconut and cinnamon crumbs). The dessert is too sweet and it needs the tartness of the passion fruit but this addition was also sweet throwing the taste to the super sweet side. I think if they put a passion fruit reduction wo sugar it would round the plate togheter.
Overall this place is a hidden jewel that with time will have great success if it keeps its consistency. Will we try it again, certainly. They had...
Read moreMade reservations for my birthday. Arrived and immediatly taken to our table. Our server was Dariana who had great energy, very attentive and just the sweetest. She made great suggestions. Loved the decor, lighting and the layout. Classy and modern. Loved the detail of the cocktail menu as a book. Looked like an ancient manual, it was a nice touch. Menu not extensive ( just how I like it) straight to the point and descriptive. We’re not very knowledgeable of Peruvian cuisine so Dariana answered any questions we had. Food we had was great. Balanced in terms of acidity, textures, salt, sauces, etc. Food came out in an adequate time, good temperature. It is a quality restaurant so price is according to the place. We loved it and would definitly return. Reserve...
