I’ve eaten from this place, mostly Take Out, and the food has been amazing every single time. My family & me visited the restaurant l last Thursday and again, the food was amazing and the service was good. However, on May 30th, we stopped there to make a big Take Out order. It was for 8 people total. We actually sat & had drinks while we waited for the order. The order was handed over to us & as usual, the plastic bags were tied in a knot. We didn’t see the use of checking the order because we have been buying in this place for at least 3 years and we’ve neved had a bad experience before. We live 16 miles away from this restaurant. We were exhausted & hungry. When we got home we realized they forgot to include 1 main dish (beef steak with onions) & one appetizer (fried cheese). We decided to call to inform about the situation because it was about over $20 (sans the taxes) of food missing. I call & explained what happened, since we usually visit this place fairly often, our expectations were to receive a credit for the food they didn’t give us. This is an usual way to solve this kind of situation here. I never asked for a specific way of how this should be solved because I don’t know that restaurant particular policies in such cases. I tell the woman that answered the phone what happened about an hour prior & how inconvenient it was for us to drive back to get the dishes. She asked me if I had the ticket, I did. She then asked me to tell her the Order number. I stare at the ticked and I asked the woman: is the order # the one on the top left of the receipt that says Check #. She said yes! When I told her the # she said with a very bad attitude that my order JUST consisted of fried cheese & some other main dish & that was properly delivered. She also added that I was lying. I told her that was NOT the order we had. She has the most awful, daring & demeaning attitud I’ve encountered with someone, probably, ever. Not only that, she was blatantly screaming at me. All of the family was listening to the phone call & were in shock. Context: we stopped by that restaurant returning from the airport. We were picking up a relative as we were getting ready to have the funeral of a very close relative that died suddenly and unexpectedly. We were all sad & incredibly upset by the way this woman treated me. I asked her if there was someone else I could talj to & she said that was not possible since at that moment she was the supervisor at the restaurant. I then realized that the receipt DOES have an ORDER # with more digits than the Check # that this woman assured me was the actual Order #. The order # was in the bottom of the receipt but then again, I specifically asked her about the other # & she affirmed that was the # she needed. When I tell her the actual order #, she verified it was an order that passed $100. She then decided to listen which plates were missing without questioning, like before, if we were lying. By this time, her voice had softened as well as the attitude. She then gives me the phone number of another woman that worked there and instructed me to call her the next day. She proceeded to explain that the lady that I was going to call would reimburse the $ via ATH Móvil because she (the woman that I was talking to) could not send me the money. I still cannot believe this happened & that it ocurred in this particular restaurant. When we visited it this week I voted against it because of that experience. Needless to say, I didn’t call to ask for the $. This is not about $. This about the humiliating experience that this woman made me experience with absolutely no provocation on my part. I distinctly remember I asked her severa times to stop yelling at me. I sincerely hope this was an isolated event because I don’t wish on anyone to be treated & yelled the way...
Read moreSo, last Saturday was family dinner night, and we decided to check out this place we'd been hearing about. Right off the bat, we were pretty impressed with how quick the service was. I mean, we barely sat down and our server was already there, ready to take our order. That was a nice start.
For appetizers, we went with a few different choices, and let me tell you, they were all pretty great. It was one of those times when everyone at the table is nodding and making those "mmm" sounds, you know? Definitely set a high bar for the rest of the meal.
When it came to the main dishes, things were mostly good. The kitchen clearly knew what they were doing, and everything came out looking like it should be on the cover of a food magazine. But, we did hit a bit of a snag with the octopus and carrucho—they were on the tough side. Not terrible, but you know, not what we were hoping for. On the flip side, the mofongo was good. Can say, it was the kind of dish that makes you want to come back just for that.
Now, the mojito I ordered? Absolute winner. I'd go back just for another one of those. It was the perfect mix, refreshing and just what I needed.
Desserts were, well, just okay. Nothing to write home about but not bad either. After such a strong start and a pretty good main course, the desserts didn’t quite keep up. They were the average end to an otherwise solid meal.
All in all, it was a good outing. Despite a couple of dishes not hitting the mark, the fast service, great appetizers, the mofongo, and a top-notch mojito made the night. It’s a chill place, no fuss or fancy stuff, just good food and a nice time...
Read moreOpen 24 hours, this establishment is a great for those seeking authentic local cuisine at any hour of the day.
Our meal began with an order of assorted turnovers—six pieces filled with chicken, beef, or cheese. This classic appetizer offered a promising start. However, the real test of the kitchen's prowess lay in the entrees, where the results were more mixed.
We sampled the stuffed mofongos, opting for one with skirt steak and shrimp, and another with garlic chicken. The mofongos themselves were a triumph—perfectly executed, with the plantain mash balancing firmness and flavor. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the meats. The skirt steak, while generously portioned, was disappointingly chewy. The garlic chicken, too, fell short, its texture and flavor reminiscent of boiled poultry rather than a dish that should stand out.
On a brighter note, the mojitos were a delightful surprise. The passion fruit mojito was refreshing, but the Pama mojito was the standout—an inspired blend that elevated the entire meal.
The venue shows signs of wear and could use a renovation. Additionally, parking can be a challenge, so plan accordingly. It's worth noting that they do accept credit cards...
