Smokey's Barbeque — Restaurant in San Juan

I've tried to give this place a chance, twice in fact. It's one of those BBQ joints that you want to enjoy but everything just tastes off. The bbq is off putting, the pork ribs are cheap cuts and overcooked. The chicken sandwich was just a day old super overcooked and dry chicken breast, lazily torn by hand and thrown on a decent bun with mayo and lettuce. I can't honestly recommend the place considering there are honestly better options just down the road. Even better BBQ just 10 mins away. The staff is probably the only redeeming quality. My waitress was attentive and checked on me often to make sure I had what I needed. Smokey needs to rethink his food...

I bought 4 chicken plates and I been calling them for them have them ready and they never answer the phone. Very dissatisfied and disappointed, so now going to have to go in person.Ok, so I called in the morning on Saturday and this lady answered and she was so rude and I tell her no one answers and i called at 2: 30 and she's like we close early!!I finally pick up my 4 plates and sorry bad service and the chicken was dry and ver little food and...

Hadn't been to Smokeys since the location that was on 495, found out they had a location on Veterans in San Juan, Tx so we went to have lunch. The food is always so good! The chips and salsa is always so good here! We ordered the fajita plate and it was delicious! The side of the restaurant we ate at was right when you walk in. All the other tables on the other side where full. Well, there's a reason for that....the food...
