Yuri's Taqueria: Please take the time to change your menu prices to accurately reflect what you are charging customers before it cost you more in legal fees. I would love to continue to support your business, but only if you run an honest one!
Customers of Yuri's Taqueria: Please audit your bill and ensure the price listed on the menu is the same one you are being charged.
I saw a post from Yuri's daughter on Tik Tok about their Valentines day pink taco promotion. I wasn't able to visit until today and from the few reviews I saw online, I was pretty juiced to support a local taqueria.
We arrived around 5 pm on a Friday for an early dinner. There was only one table eating. We were quickly sat and attended to, our kind waiter getting our drinks and patiently waiting for us to order. Food came out together and very quickly! Around 15 minutes for a table of 4.
We ordered the taco plate, wet burrito, no meat pozole, and rice and beans for the baby. My son devoured the taco plate and my partner was only able to finish 2/3 of his enormous wet burrito; I'm telling you this thing was huge! I enjoyed my pozole, though I felt it lacked depth in the broth. The lime and chili along with the other toppings helped make the soup good.
My issues began when I received the bill, because I noticed a large discrepancy with the price listed on the menu and the price I was being charged. The menu has a clear error on the prices as a no meat pozole small is $14.55 but the large was $13.50. Before ordering, I asked if it was a small price swap error and the waiter had said yes, the prices were just flipped. However, my bill showed I was being charged $17.50! This is a 20% increase in price!
I immediately thought it was a clerical mistake and asked our waiter what was the reason for the higher charge. He said that the person who made the menus messed up the prices and the true price of the Large no meat pozole was $17.50. I told him that I was not made aware of that price when I ordered and asked for the bill to reflect the menu price. He did not try to fight it, although I could tell the energy had shifted. I think they were banking on the fact I wasn't going to audit my receipt.
I am deeply troubled by this situation because I feel this is a normal practice for Yuri's Taqueria. To claim the reason behind the price change is because of a menu error, then fix it! I'm sure we have all seen menus that are edited with sharpie, paper, etc. C'mon, I was born at night, just not last night.
Additionally, I understand we are going through hard times and inflation has caused prices to change, but to allow your customers to order from a menu and be charged a completely different price is shameful. Pretty sure it's illegal.... Even after all this mess I still tipped, because I'm not an asshole, but it made me feel disgusting supporting a business that is being deceitful to...
Read moreIf you're looking for delicious and generous portions of Mexican food, this restaurant should definitely be on your list. The menudo is amazing, hands down the best around. The sopes de requesón are also a great option if you're looking for something different.
However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. The servers try their best, but it takes a long time for your food to arrive at the table. It's unclear whether this is due to an overload of carryout orders or a lack of hospitality training among the staff. On weekends, the place gets pretty busy and can get chaotic.
Overall, if you're willing to overlook the service issues, this restaurant does not disappoint when it comes to the quality and flavor of the food. Highly...
Read moreI've lived around the corner from Yuri's for 2+ years now, and always order the quesabirria because it's straight up delicious. I have always gotten it with the consomme, because why would you eat it any other way? I've also never been charged extra for it.
Tonight, I ordered the quesabirria, and when I didn't see the consomme in the bag, I was told that they have never served it with the consomme, unless you ask for it, and it's $6.50 extra. When I explained that my experience has been different, he repeated that they have never given it with the quesabirria, and "he knows because he makes it."
I'm sad about this, and probably won't be back, the service has really gone downhill. Gaslighting your customers is not...
