Draft Republic San Marcos — Restaurant in San Marcos

I’ll start off by giving the team here 5 stars for service. From the hosts up front to the server and everyone else helping the server, they are right on point and on top of everything. The ambience and overall environment is also a clear winner including the bathroom decor.

Where it lacks receiving my 5 stars are the dishes that we ordered as well as the bowling alley and arcade games. The fish in the fish and chips were dry and had an unpleasant bitter after taste. I’m not sure if it was the batter or the oil used to fry them in but it wasn’t good at all. I would’ve preferred a classic fish with maybe Panko batter or just a simple thick batter then deep fried to a light, golden, crispy and juicy filet. The burgers were just “ok” nothing to rave about, just a burger on a brioche bun.

The arcade games seem to run pretty steep. I charged up a card with $25 bucks and was had to refill after 10 minutes. Sure they’re no Chuck E Cheese but I expected the gameplay to last a while longer. We tried to get a lane at the bowling alley but was told we had to wait 2 hours for one to open since we did not have a reservation.

Overall, I feel that we were taken care of by the staff especially because we came on a Saturday. We had a great table as well and were able to watch the game on the many TVs they have up.

I still recommend checking Draft Republic out. They’re drinks are mixed well and the beer beer selection is one of the best that I have seen. Just know about reserving in advance if you want to bowl and hopefully there is some improvement on the...

This review is geared towards vegetarians. They do have a few options for both vegan and vegetarian which I appreciate, however they certainly do upcharge for these items. My wife got a supreme pizza but asked to have it with no meat, so no sausage or bacon and instead just crumble the plant based patty on top. They charged $3 extra to take the meat off and sub it for the beyond patty, really cheap. I got the regular burger which is $20 but then asked for the plant based patty, another $3 upcharge. It’s really frustrating when businesses know they can prove gouge you based on the fact you want a plant based option. Then they add the 5% surcharge at the end of the meal “for costs”, I mean who is getting that money? Either raise the price or just pay your people more. Lastly you have to pay to park. I went to watch a woman’s soccer game which I called ahead to make sure they were able play it and they said yes. I confirmed again they could show the game with sound when we checked in with the host and they said yes no problem. The game started at 515 and at 517 it still hasn’t started, then it came in with no sound. They said they could not play streamed games with volume, had I know that I would not have gone here, very disappointed. Came here for a date night and they did not disappoint! the menu has a lot of diverse options so we asked the waitress what she would recommend and she said everything there is good. And let me tell you she was not wrong! As a drink I ordered the Drink Thyme. It was so good and not to sweet! A very well made and gorgeous dish. We ordered the crispy buffalo cauliflower, the veggie pesto pizza and the short rib pappardelle. The Buffalo cauliflower was by far the best I’ve ever had! It was crispy, not soggy, full of flavor and it was so enjoyable! The side of ranch was also delicious! The veggie pesto pizza was a stone oven pizza that was thin but not falling apart and had such great flavor! And the short rib pappardelle had such delicious sauce and the short ribs were so tender! The pasta wasn’t too much either it was cooked perfectly and hell the flavor of the sauce very well!

The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and so fun! We played in the arcade for a bit before we left! PERFECT FOR DATE NIGHT!!!
