Yes, we drove all the way down to this area from Vegas (for a concert) — and stayed an additional day just to eat dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory!
This is one of the very few of my favorite things that we are missing in Las Vegas!
OSF is not the best pasta on earth. It’s not the fanciest restaurant, or always the best service.
But it offers a great experience overall — with legitimately delicious spaghetti, good bread, a simple but sweet salad, and a scoop of yummy spumoni ice cream all included in one fair price for your meal.
When we lived in the Bay Area, we always made it a point to get to OSF at least 3-4 times a year but since being in Vegas, this is one restaurant I always try to fit in when entering California on a road trip. All locations are usually grand in size, and ambiance is nice - family-oriented, spacious, and suited to both casual and a little fancier if you’d like.
And for us, since road trips will always involve taking our dogs, most (?) OSF having patios which allow dogs is critical, especially since our puppy seems to like barking his head off when left at the hotel. 🤦🏻♀️
Order the captain’s platter — mizithra and brown butter for one half and the awesome white clam sauce on the other half. Mix it up and voila!
Tip to OSF: Invest in better butter for your bread.
Note: We sat on the patio and I never actually stepped foot inside this location, but the few locations I’ve been to have always been consistent in decor and ambiance.
Note 2: We called at noon to confirm they allow dogs on the patio, verified by the lunch manager. When we arrived for dinner, the dinner manager tried to tell us only service dogs were allowed. They relented and seated us but keep...

This review is long overdue! I would like to address my review not only to this location in San Marcos as a whole, but to the banquet staff on June 27th 2018. I’m originally from San Diego, but I live in Hawaii, and I had scheduled a luncheon for my mothers 80th birthday celebration while we had our family reunion in California. I contacted the manager and banquet coordinator approximately 2 months out give or take and they were extremely helpful in booking my event and menu selections. We decided to have a luncheon instead of a dinner due to some logistical concerns trying to get everyone at the same place and time. I was also struggling to meet the 25-100 guests to have a separate room reserved. The staff and manager went out of their way for us and made sure that our luncheon went off without a hitch! Our menu selections were selected ahead of time and they made some great suggestions for me and when we arrived in San Marcos everything was Spot On! They had printed out a special menu, began serving appetizers and I don’t feel our meal together had any hiccups or problems. It flowed at a perfect rate throughout our scheduled 2 hour timeframe. Not a glass was empty, everyone couldn’t believe how organized the whole event was, and the food selections were fantastic! I would highly recommend the team at this location for your event because the manager treated my mom like a VIP! She had an amazing time surrounded by the love of family and friends. I would like to thank the entire staff for a wonderful luncheon that my mom still talks about today! It allowed me to enjoy our day with my mom and the fully capable staff at the San Marcos Spaghetti Factory.

Read moreTerrible service. Or rather, did not even receive any service after near half an hour.
So I haven't been here in 8 ish years ago for a Christmas party, so I was feeling nostalgic and wanting pasta. So I arrive about half an hour ago and my family and I get seated. The scenery is nice and it's not too busy. We look at the menus and the drinks, and we are ready to order. 5 min pass and no server. Alright no biggie, I see that they are setting up a big table nearby so must have been sidetracked. 10 min pass and I see this woman with black hair and pigtails pass by us and serve this elderly party of 3-4 that is one table away from us. Uh alright maybe not our server. The manager (big guy, has a beard, is not wearing black but a blue long sleeve and tan khaki pants and has radio electronics on him) has passed by several times setting up that big table, how has he NOT noticed we haven't been helped in what has passed by 15-20 min? It's gotten to the point where we had to ask some person to get someone, but then after a few min my family and I have decided to just go find somewhere else to go eat and not have us wait for nearly half an hour. No water, no "hey how are you?" Or "give us just a second", Nothing. Disappointed, come on Spaghetti Factory, at least hire more staff or have your current ones be more attentive to what's going on.
Edit: corrected some spelling mistakes, review was...
