Firstly, this is not a real Mediterranean/halal place, the sign inside says it's Mediterranean with a SoCal twist, whatever that means. Your ordering experience, should you choose to accept it, will be slightly odd. The place has a chipotle/subway type concept, but off. You order at the register on the left, then I think depending on what you order, you have to wait somewhere else until your name is called to add your toppings. So, if it's busy, you will have to wait twice to order instead of just once at the register. Plus, it's a cramped space that seats 22 people.
I got a falafel sandwich, which I though would be a small pita type bread, but it turns out it's a very large piece of arabic bread (which it does state on the menu). After adding the toppings, it was basically wrapped like a burrito, smooshing everything together. I guess I had something different in my mind when I saw sandwich, that it would be the U-shaped sandwich, not a wrapped ingredient item. The falafel was okay, but having it already smashed with everything else makes it hard to review, but it was on the thicker side. The bread is soft and they use only 'fresh ingredients' but that can be up for debate.
It came with a side of the worst pita chips I've had, most of them were soggy, tasted stale, and had no seasoning. It's supposed to come with a side of tzatziki sauce, but that was missing, but since I don't really care for it, I didn't ask for it.
Overall, the prices are in line with other "Mediterranean" places, but it's not really worth it. It can be an okay choice for a meal, but there are better...
Read moreThis place markets itself as Mediterranean, but it’s giving more generic Middle Eastern fast-food vibes — and not in a good way. I’m not mad at the concept, but I am calling for some transparency, especially when it comes to what we’re actually paying for.
I ordered both the chicken and tri-tip plates. Honestly, it felt like they used the absolute cheapest ingredients they could get away with. The rice was undercooked and had that odd mineral taste like it was cooked with straight tap water full of calcium. That’s not a flavor note I came for.
As for the meats — chicken, lamb, and tri-tip — there was no real differentiation in seasoning. Everything seemed to follow the same basic spice profile, which made the whole meal feel flat. The chicken was overcooked and dry, like they forgot to rest it after grilling. And if you’re going to offer tri-tip, at least season it like you mean it.
The vegetables didn’t pass the freshness test either. For a Mediterranean place, where fresh, crisp produce is key, this felt like someone opened the fridge and grabbed whatever had been sitting around the longest.
Here’s the thing: you’re located next to a public university, and more than half of the student population is on financial aid. Your prices are high, and your quality doesn't justify it. Cutting corners might help short-term profits, but long term? You're just driving customers away.
This meal felt like a quality control failure — and a tone-deaf one at that. Campus Way has seen places come and go, and unless Pita Guys seriously rethinks its approach, this place is headed in the...
Read moreThe meat is amazing! The restaurant is extremely loud and chaotic. The customer service is terrible and the menu is cryptic. There is terrible music being pumped into the lobby and you can't hear them call your name. The kids that work here are a prime example of entitled spoiled brats, no respect or courtesy is given at all. The hummus is closer to mayonnaise than garbanzo. It is slow fast food at sit down restaurant prices. Expect $20 per person. The tri-tip and lamb does have excellent flavor however, so I will probably navigate the lobby again just for a taste.
Edit: This place has really gone downhill over the past year. The meat still has good flavor but the quality is terrible I have to spit out every third bite. There is fat chunks and hard Grizzly pieces. The last two times I doordashed this place it was terrible I don't know what happened. The quality has fallen greatly but you still pay restaurant prices. I no longer...
