Mari Vees is a relatively new small cafe that serve breakfast and lunch snuggled in the heart of an upper middle class San Marino of SGV. Owned and operated by Mr. Roger Valdez. We came on a rainy Easter weekend as a first time customer at this breakfast cafe. We were seated quickly. Interior design and space layout were modest and a bit restricted, respectively. When the cafe is at full capacity (during weekends) you might feel claustrophobic and inevitably hear other customer’s conversation due to the extreme proximity between tables. They have QR menu on each table. I had The Mari Vee pancakes ($19) with wild blueberry that comes with a thick, rich warm Maple Butter, which I sensually poured between my soft, warm and fluffy pancakes. Mocha Latte ($5.50) was good. Prices were bidenomically high particularly their food. Service was on point. Atmosphere vibe can be relaxing if it’s not crowded. Free Street Parking available. Overall, I enjoyed their service, blueberry pancakes and latte. I suggest you arrive early morning due to its popularity and to avoid the feeling of being cramped.

I ordered the club sandwich. It had honey ham which I wasn't expecting. I wouldn't have ordered it if it was mentioned on the menu. The bread was toasted to the point it was hard and dry. The cheese....it was dry and crumbly. It broke apart so easy. The edges were dark like too much air got to it. It just wasn't good. I am a huge pancake fan (twoheys, Joan's on 3rd, Jack n Joe's, dupars, pantry). The pancakes came out hot and fluffy yet they were the oddest tasting pancakes I ever had. It tasted like a boiled omelette. I cannot figure out how to properly describe it but they were dense, not fluffy but looked fluffy, had no "pancake" flavor but rather tasted like boiled scrambled egg. I took one bite and thought I was tripping. I took a second bite and I realized I wasn't. The service was slow. We asked for water and the woman walked by. We asked again and she said "no one brought you water." My fries came out a bit hot and cold. We didn't finish our meals. We called it a loss and got smoothies instead. Also, they only have maple butter and maple syrup. No regular syrup.

I went to this placed yesterday for the first time,I read some of the reviews so I decided to give it a try,it was pretty easy to find street parking.but the atmosphere it’s not too welcoming.there’s not much decoration inside the place and there’s a limit of 1 hour for seating.I got a waffle with eggs and bacon and husband got chilaquiles with beef ($6 more) and a coffee.theres was nothing outstanding with my plate and the eggs were bland with no taste/salt.the thing I did liked was their homemade maple syrup.coffee was had a generic taste and husbands chilaquiles were not good either.the sauce had no flavor at all and it was just tomato sauce poured over tortilla chips, the beef was also not good it was too chewy and flavorless his coffee had a cute design on top which made it look appealing to the eye but also very generic taste.will probably not be coming back.but hey everyone has different taste/likings maybe what didn’t work for me might be great for others 🤷🏻‍♀️

Delightful Morning at Mari Vees

Imagine stepping into a vibrant oasis in the heart of San Marino, where the air is filled with the aroma of freshly cooked breakfast and the ambiance is nothing short of enchanting. This was my experience at Mari Vees, a gem of a restaurant that promises a delightful culinary journey.

As I settled into my seat, surrounded by lush vegetation and bursts of color, I felt an immediate sense of tranquility. The spacious layout ensured that I had plenty of room to relax without feeling crowded by other patrons. The atmosphere was airy and inviting, setting the perfect tone for what was to come.

My breakfast began with the most delicious, fluffy pancake I have ever tasted. Each bite was a cloud of perfection, complemented by an unbelievable maple syrup that added just the right amount of sweetness. It was a heavenly start to my meal.

Next came the eggs, seasoned so perfectly that there was no need for any additional salt or pepper. They were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor that made each mouthful a delight. Accompanying the eggs was thick, crispy bacon that was simply divine. The bacon had the perfect balance of crunch and tenderness, making it a standout component of the meal.

The staff at Mari Vees were exceptional, particularly our server Anthony. He was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was memorable. His recommendations were spot-on and greatly appreciated, adding a personal touch to our visit.

In conclusion, Mari Vees is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful breakfast experience. The combination of delicious food, charming ambiance, and outstanding service makes it a standout choice. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking to start their day on a...

Edit: thank you for the response. I did not do delivery. I live 7 min away and did pick up orders every time :)

I'm a lil scared to write this review cause of all the "petty" responses from the owner but constructive criticism helps lol. I've been here a few times. My input: the chilaquiles are good! I really liked them. I wish there was an option for over hard eggs when ordering online. There's only over easy or scrambled. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and it honestly tasted like an iced coffee not espresso. I wouldn't order a latte from here again. I was really impressed with the waffles and the butter, even tho they got soggy by the time I got home, I still killed them! The waffles were so good that I ordered them again the following week, this time the waffle wasn't good as the first time I tried them. I only ate half, and only three little pieces of strawberries. The huevos ranchers were just okay (a little salty), but for the price of $19 a little avocado would've been nice. Overall, with today's economy, I would not return because the quality of this establishment is not consistent. Like the owner suggested, you're better off going to dennys paying the same price and getting the same tasting food every time you go instead of gambling and hoping the food is...
