SAJJ Mediterranean — Restaurant in San Mateo

Today I ordered delivery for the first time and my food never arrived. Finally I called the restaurant and had them cancel the order. Upon calling to inquire about the order twice, I learnt that the restaurant did not have a way to track who picked up the order and also the delivery companies contact so the customers can call them to track. I understand that businesses are having difficulties due to the pandemic, but this could be another reason why they won't have business. Could they deliver on time? Besides, I ordered not through a third party (grubhub door dash etc.) but on the actual website and paid for delivery. If that option is not available please fix it on your website. Please don't make the customer wait and not keep them starving. Very disappointed. And I would not give any stars but forced...

I am a huuuuge fan of BYO-anything, so when I found out the set-up was like that at SAJJ, I couldn't wait! We both went with Steak Shawarma bowls as our base and then customized it with toppings as we made it down the line. There are so many topping options to choose from, our bowls were pretty stacked by the end. Ingredients were very fresh and flavorful, service was super friendly, and I think you can say I'm a new fan who will be back soon! My only "complaint" was that the meats were a bit too salty.

This has to be one of my favorite Middle Eastern spots in downtown San Mateo. I am very picky about my falafel as I like the falafel this place serves. Usually I would get the falafel ball with rice and hummus spread with veggies and a topping of tahini sauce. Most of the time I would order my food to go but I have eaten inside this venue in the past. Very clean inside and the staff is very friendly. If you are looking for a quick bite I would recommend stopping by the spot.
