OMG...REAL NYC pizza! I'm from Brooklyn Flatbush/E57th. And hey, I'm Italian. By chance we went to Sandpoint for another reason and decided to eat and looked up "pizza" on Google (thanks Google) and liked the name "Babs" and went. Wow. We've been in this food wasteland for 7 years, where's the pizza? Where's the Chinese? Later for the Chinese story but we went to Bab's and I guess Bab's granddaughter made our pie. Holy Cow... the crust? You could fold it without it cracking in half. The sauce? Tangy, slightly under-cooked. The cheese? White stringy and not salty. Not this crappy 3 cheese stuff with cheddar cheese and a hard crackly crust they call "pizza" out here. Jeez. Now for youse who ain't from NYC; pizza there comes in two styles: salty yellowish greasy version and the white tangy stringy version. Cheap pizza, ("hey you wanna slice or what?) the "wanna slice" is the yellow salty stuff you get at your neighborhood pizza joint. The "or what" is the GOOD pizza you have to get on the subway and travel somewhere they make good pizza... like Manhattan. Bab's is "or what" pizza: real good pizza. If you don't agree with me, we live in Spokane Valley and you can come and say somein to my...
Read moreI’m originally from Long Island, so when I found Babs I was so excited. The first couple times I was so happy with the sauce and the thin-NY style pizza. I could actually fold it and watch the grease drip down 🤤. I live in CDA, but come to sand point often for soccer games, swimming and other activities so always make it a point to stop by. The past two years it has worsened. The prices are fair, but the consistency in the pizza is lacking. Today we went and the pizza looked like an oval, train wreck. Some days there is no sauce, too much sauce, no cheese, too much cheese, the dough was or was not done correctly. Not to mention the girl at the front counter was very impolite. Not sure if customer service in a pizza parlor is her thing. She was very rude on the phone and even had me open my own bottles because she couldn’t be bothered. I don’t mind doing it, but she didn’t even offer. Just showed me-behind the register-how to do it. I guess I’m all about customer service and that, as well as the quality, have gone down. I won’t be making special stops anymore and that’s a shame because you had a great pie once! Your sauce is still...
Read moreAbsolutely love Babs it always tastes great, but I was very disappointed with the service I experienced today. I went in around 12:40ish and there was only one other couple waiting for their food. The nice young man took my order, which was a salad(large) and an order of garlic knots. About 15 more kids come in (lunch hour from school) and the young man took all their orders. I wait and wait and wait thinking I’ll be served before all these kids considering I ordered something simple and before they did. Well I was wrong they served every single kid their pizza, they ate all of it, and they cleaned up their table and headed back to school before I even got my salad. She was very chatty and unfocused today, and sometimes that happens and I get that, but I didn’t get my food until 1:20pm. That was along time to wait for a salad and some knots! I loved the salad it’s amazing and the pizza is good but if you don’t have time to wait, BABS is not the...
