Was given a gift certificate from a friend so decided to try it out today for lunch. Ordered 1/2 pound of the Brisket, pulled pork, tri tip, and sausage of the day which was Jalapeno cheddar. For sides we tried potato salad, Mexican corn salad, spicy baked beans and the Mac and cheese. And to wash it down one of their delicious ice cold tap beers. First off all the staff were friendly and helpful, greeting us like they were happy we were there and eager to answer any questions. We received our order and man was this a lot of food. First bite was the brisket. Excellent bark, smoke ring and glistening with juicy bbq goodness. I’ve eaten a lot of brisket in my day, this was probably the best I’ve had. Perfectly tender, smoked to perfection and flavorful. Next in was the sausage, I’m always skeptical of ā€œHomemade sausagesā€ because I’ve had some bad experiences in the past. Let me tell you…. That was THE best homemade sausage I’ve eaten. JalapeƱo Cheddar was legit! When they start making and selling these, I’ll be buying. Pulled pork was tender and juicy as was the tri-tip. Both were excellent just not on the same level as the sausage and brisket. On to the sides, Mac and cheese was good, spicey beans were good, Mexican corn salad was excellent and the potato salad had a Smokey essence with a hint of mustard. Wife didn’t care for this only because she doesn’t like mustard at all. I really enjoyed the unique flavor profile as I’ve never had potato salad like this before. After stuffing ourselves with the meaty greatness, we had enough left over for another meal. This place checked all the boxes for a great bbq joint. Ice cold beer and flavorful sauces topped it off as one of the better meals I’ve eaten out in Sandpoint. If their quality and customer service continue, I will be a regular here. Most places I’ve eaten out I tend to not be overly impressed, and tell myself we could have done it better ourselves at home. Not this time….. these people know smoked meats and the name Smokesmith is perfectly fitting. Thanks for impressing us today!

Let me find the words.. I don't just don't hand out a full 5 star review.. You have to earn it!šŸ¤” The customer service was very warm and welcoming soon as we walked in the door. Wasn't rushed to order and was very polite answering questions. That is rare when you have a young staff but kudos to them! The atmosphere was very relaxing, clean and refreshing! Now on to the food šŸ˜‹. Ordered plates #1 to try multiple meats and as a very talented smoker myself its hard to impress. 1. The brisket was very moist with flavor! No dryness or need to coat with a sauce. The balance of paper was perfect as to not over power the smoked flavor. šŸ™ŒšŸ”„ 2. The pulled pork was not as good as there was a slight dryness to it, but the flavor was still very good. 3. The JalapeƱo sausage was just perfect! Full of flavor and not so hot to overpower the flavor. 4. The cornbread... don't insult it and add butter. Very moist! 5. Smoked mac and cheese was thick creamy and full of flavor! If you love quality Bar B Que. You have to hit this spot. This is hands down the best hidden secret from Spokane to Missoula!

Yay, North Idaho Panhandle. Oh boy, these pitmasters are great. Easily the most enjoyable BBQ experience I've had in years, and the Inland NW has come a loooong way since the early 2000s for good 'cue. For me, moistness in the smoked protein is everything. Pork is a natural, and easy to do, but brisket is not. Their brisket was....butter. Tender, beefy, nice crust, and not over smoked. Lordy lord, I do this at home and cannot duplicate their expertise. I will pay a premium for meat like this. And don't get me started on their smoked Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage. Dream worthy. A lot of care and monitoring goes with creating food like this. Sides were fresh and savory as well, with cornbread that had a slight pudding quality to it, yet was not overly sweet. That closed the circle for me. My highest rating for these guys, for sure. Yeah, buddy...

I happened to be in Sandpoint (I frequent for work) and googled great food near me. Many things popped up then I stopped at the BBQ spot.. so glad I did.. had zero clue, didn't research, read reviews nothing. Just drove. Pulled in to phenomenal live music outside. Absolutely great band. They were fairly busy and there was zero pressure on their end they have a process and it works.. of course the fat dude I am, I have a good buddy with me decide Let me get the biggest best, way too much food platter you have. WHOA! I Was absolutely impressed. Friendly people everywhere, we ate outside to enjoy the music and the weather. Great great vibe. Sandpoint is a thing all in itself but smokesmith is definitely a well deserved highly recommended spot. Overall experience an 11 out 5. One of the owners swang by our table and asked how it was, she was sweet, gave us a small back story and we were delighted. Her and her husband absolutely know what they are doing. For the record its Real Texas Style bbq. You'll love everything about it. We did.. I always say take food advice from a fat dude. We know what we're talking about. #TheFatFoodDude #FatDudeApproved #MyOpinionMatters #TrustFatFoodCritics

I had the Texas Trinity this evening; brisket, ribs and a cheeseburger sausage. All of it was very dry, chewy and not a lot of flavor. My husband and son like Smokesmith but I have yet to eat anything there worth singing praises. I'm NOT a picky person at all but I do appreciate food that is clearly cooked with care. That was very likely my last time eating at Smokesmith. EDIT TO REPLY TO SMOKESMITH: Who's going on the attack now? I left an HONEST opinion about the food I got from your establishment, NOT an attack. Good quality brisket should be very tender and moist. It should fall apart easily! The ribs should also fall off the bone when done well. The brisket I was served was DRY and chewy, and the ribs weren't much better. Someone screwed it up by cooking it too hot and/or too fast! The casing on the sausage was like chewing leather, I couldn't eat it. I'm NOT one to complain so I said nothing to your staff. I was not and am not looking for a refund or free meal. I also said nothing in my review about your prices, YOU brought that up. I have zero problems paying good money for a meal I enjoy. If you want a good input from me...well, the cornbread is pretty darned tasty and your staff was friendly and attentive. Save face and admit that you're human and had an "off" day, instead of making your reply to me an attack of my character. Poor taste to try to turn the table instead of inviting me back in...
