Sarkus express — Restaurant in Sanford

Called and Placed order at 8:09, told it would be 15-20 minutes, didn’t get food until 9:09. Meanwhile other orders went out. Simple order of 2 chicken and shrimp (1 with mushrooms on the side) and side order of scallops. I asked a lady at the counter (calls the orders) to verify what time I placed my order versus what time I received it. Cook asks what’s the problem and she rolls her eyes and responds sarcastically “they had to wait a little over an hour”.... what’s the point in take out if you literally have to go in and wait and additional 45 mins after calling and placing order? New to the town gave them a chance...first and last. By the way, to the owners to who may read this, please tell the guy in the kitchen who is “helping” to A) not rub his stomach and touch shrimp. B) not thaw so much shrimp at closing. Once it’s thawed in a microwave it HAS to be cooked immediately to prevent bacteria Growth. Should definitely check the servsafe at this...

Second time in a row from Sarkus(Horner Blvd) that I have did an online order, only to get it home and its BURNT/BLACK/INEDIBLE. First time was about a month ago. I figured they got a new cook, no biggie, accidents/ mistakes happen. Tonight's experience tells me this is NOT a rarity for this establishment to serve food that should have been thrown out and prepared over. To begin with I tried to just pull out the BURNT/BLACK pieces. Only to realize the food that wasn't burnt had big chunks of burnt flecks all over it as well. Truly sad part is whoever cooked this, HAD to have seen how burnt/black it was and they still served it. Never again will I waste $20 dollars nor a $1 here. Too many quick cook japanese restaurants in Sanford to waste your money and time...

2022: I absolutely love this place! The food is always fresh, tasty, and never greasy. The staff, both in the kitchen and at the front, are incredibly friendly and helpful. It's easily one of my favorite spots to eat! Updated review 2025: The food is still great, but the portions have definitely gotten smaller. Unfortunately, the customer service from the front staff, especially the women, has been terrible. On rare occasions, I get lucky and encounter a young man who's fantastic, but it's been a while since I've seen him.
