Listen, if you are looking to eat Americanized Tex-Mex please go to Taco Bell or any of our other disgraces of Mexican cuisine. I am a professional chef, that grew up in Southern California. This place is awesome for people that truly appreciate authentic Mexican tacos. I feel bad that they have to ask if you want your tacos American or Mexican. We have unfortunately decided in America that tacos need lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese. Again, go to Taco Bell. Cilantro, onions, salsa verde and a squeeze of lime juice is perfect on these tacos. I didn't go here for the appearance of the building, what clothes the servers wear, or what music is played. I was looking for true Mexican tacos, and if you don't get that you shouldn't even bother going. The tongue(lengua) tacos are great, the chorizo tacos are great, the al pastor tacos are great, the chicharon tacos are great. My only regret is I came before they serve the tripa tacos(tripe). Please also stop complaining about the free tortilla chips you get and the fact you don't get queso, or store bought crap "salsa". Again, feel free to take your uneducated self to taco bell and enjoy your hormone fed low quality beef and poisoned food. If you truly enjoy true Mexican...
Read moreTHIS PLACE IS LIFE!!! I get the chicken nachos but modified. Instead of a bed of chips at the bottom I get a bed of rice and then get the chips on the side. When u get home u have no soggy chips and the rice adds a sense of authenticity to it. It comes with crumbled cheese, melted cheese, chicken, beans, sour scream, lettuce, and pico de Gallo, however I get monies the vegetables. It is sooooo good and the chips are so authentic! The staff is authentically Mexican to the point where when I called them to compliment them on their food she couldn’t understand me, hehe. If you only speak English like I do you can request for them to get someone who speaks English to take your order or just try the best u can with the language barrier. Either way you will leave happy and be full and satisfied! I love this place so much! Such an undiscovered little gem right here in Sanford! Wish I could...
Read moreTortillera La Mexicana is the place to go if you are in a real real hurry, but you still want a very hot meal. You are surrounded by the main stays and giant food chains when you decide to enter. There, in the shadow of the golden arches, is a thriving Latino buffet. I love the golden arches, yet you can not get a muto portion of rice, beans, and steak from any chain for, $6.00. The portion would easily satisfy you and your honey. Lets mention the meat department and the concentrated grocery aisles that, through i am sure much trial and error, have figured how to minister to their neighborhood. It has become a mainstay for me. It was a good 2 oclock lunch. I will now set down to what is left over for my 7 oclock dinner. A Latino buffet on mills avenue? God...
