El Cangrejo Nice — Restaurant in Santa Ana

Went here because I've picked up food from here through uber eats. I invited my family and friends, for a total of 6 adults and 2 kids. It easily could've been a bill of $150. When we go out on Sundays to eat together we usually pay separately. As we sat down to eat I tried to tell the waitress that but she told me to tell her once we order. When she came to take my order my mom explained to her how we've be splitting the bill. From then on she started giving us attitude and even nodded her head back and forth in sort of disappointment for wanting to split the bill between 3 groups. She was very dry and annoyed in her tone. One of my friends also asked her about one of the dishes and she just spilled 3 words in regards to the dish no explanation at all on the ingredients. When she asked us about what we wanted to drink we were about to start telling her and she just decided not to and just to come back to once we were ready because it "be easier for her." I do understand that the way we were going to order was a bit difficult but she did not have to give us straight attitude from the beginning. Ambiance is good, good staff and sexy looking girls but im there for the food... Food is not that good, shrimp was over cooked, beans are blended look more like beans paste, tamarindo shrimp too sweet! camarones al veneno shrimp NOT spicy, hardly any flavor and was mostly sour, bitter and overcooked. Cocktail Shrimp needs more flavor and ceviche is alright, too expensive and ambience does not justify the high $$$$ Seems like they spend too much time presenting the food on a plate rather than serving good food and on top of that we got a little sick but...

+1 star for the restaurant ambiance, +1 star for the server that assisted me for a total of +2 stars.

We had the Campechana and Ceviche de Camaron (lemon prepared).

The Campechana was okay. The Ceviche was not. -1 star

The large crowd eating inside along with the maskless band playing inside as well made me uncomfortable even though I ordered to-go and waited outside. -2 stars

I get it, this pandemic has been tough on many for different reasons, but our local businesses must do better and continue to do their part to help...
