Decided to go to this place on Sat.Jan. 8 as our first experience was great food and service. Today there were different people working. While we were deciding on what to get, my husband noticed the cook with the hat on came out of the bathroom wearing gloves. When we ordered, we asked the cashier to tell him to change his gloves and told him what happened. After taking our order and the next persons order, he did tell the guy in Spanish to change his gloves. The guy did not know why he was being told that, and the cashier guy turned and pointed at us saying we saw him do that. As we waited for our food, my husband was feeling more upset and we lost our appetite. I went up and asked to cancel our order and get a refund. The cashier said he did tell him to change his gloves and I said I know, but my husband is very upset and didn't want to eat here now. The cashier did void our order in the credit card system and we paid for the bottle of water and bottle of Coke that we had already opened. We were extremely disappointed, as my husband was looking forward to eating here and this experience has now ruined it. My hope is that the restaurant takes food safety more seriously. Also, as a side note, not one employee was wearing a face mask and I know face masks are supposed to be worn inside buildings at this time. We will not be returning here as we don't want to risk getting sick from someone using the restroom and not changing their gloves. Saving my $44 and health and going elsewhere. For the owner, I do have a photo of the gentleman I'm speaking about, if you want to contact...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTommy Pastrami is absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.
I came here with someone for the first time at 9 a.m. to split a Pastrami Ruben. We had a craving for it. In addition to New York Style sandwiches and more than stellar Pastrami, they also offer breakfast such as eggs, bacon, etc.
Their sodas were quite pricey for a can, but absolutely delicious! I was told it's a high-quality soda often seen at whole foods or from the East Coast. It's definitely worth it, though. They also sell the infamous black and white "Sienfeld" cookie, supposedly imported from New York. It was probably one of the best cookies I've ever had.
The Pastrami Ruben was hands down one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The homemade rye bread was crisped to perfection. Perfectly sliced Pastrami piled on, bursting with flavor. The saurkraut was also amazing. It came with two sauces, one was sort of almost like a thousand island, and the other was horseradish mustard (I licked the container clean).
The sandwich was perfectly split between two people, but honestly it was so good I might order one just for myself next time. I highly recommend dining here. Staff was friendly. Thanks for a great experience! Next time I come ill definitely update my review and post...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTommy was there to greet me. He's very friendly and welcoming. The prices are a bit expensive for me as i have bought pastrami meals for a few dollars less bit, the quality was not as good. The pastrami in New York vs CA is different. The pastrami I've experienced is juicy, thick cut, with lots of fat. It's somewhat hard to chew whereas Tommy's pastrami was cut thin and just about melted in your mouth. The spices were well balanced. There was plenty of meat with great portion. As for the fries, excellent! They're flavorful steak cut fries from fresh potatoes unlike the small cut fries from In-n-out. You do get to add your own condiments as they are on the side as to not make the sandwich soggy. The pickles were nice, fat, fresh, and crisp. Sorry, I just don't care for In-n-out. Tommy Pastrami was a great experience and I'd go back to splurge on a great meal. There are also deals you can get so don't worry about spending all your money. This location may be hard to find. It's located on Sunflower and Harbor in Costa Mesa in the little shopping center on the dorned. Thanks...
