Cafe Rose Express — Restaurant in Costa Mesa

This little “off the beaten path”, Hidden Gem, is consistently one of the greatest spots to grab lunch. Not only is the food, fresh, delicious and priced correctly – the service is over the top. Nick has done a spectacular job of providing the two elements that make restaurants fall into the Fantastic Category - Food and Service; it sounds so simple, yet it is extremely hard to provide both of them on a consistent basis!!!

The menu varies constantly, and he does a spectacular job of adding new and exciting entrées to the menu all of the time. The girls that take your order are just the BEST, always willing to go out of their way to accommodate your every request, if at all possible. The bus- boys do a great job of clearing dishes from your table, the minute you are finished with your meal. And last, but not least - definitely the Cooks that prepare, put together, and handover there Creations, do a remarkable job and should be thanked profusely!!!

If you have not eaten here yet, do yourself a favor and give it a shot. Entrées come with one side dish I believe, and the bread can easily double as dessert; It is “over the top” in taste.

I wanted to correct my review!!! This place is fantastic!!! I return there almost daily!!! It’s tough to find a place where you’re made to feel as comfortable as going home - this review is unsolicited and it’s completely sincere. I didn’t take a free lunch or was compensated in any way.

A fantastic place!!!

90 percent of the time my visits to this establishment are excellent, which is why I don’t mind spending the money. But today was probably my last visit for a long time. I had the weekly chef’s special which was braised short ribs, Parmesan broccoli and mashed potatoes. I also added a danish to treat myself to a little treat. But the short rib was dry and tough to eat. Which was extremely unusual considering every other time I have visited the meat was always so tender. I usually frequent Cafe Rose as I love their food and service. As of late though, the older woman who works the register has been a little rude lately. Especially when it comes to the actually spelling of my name. I've told her in the past how my name is pronounced and even then she made me uncomfortable saying with rude disbelief "your name is not really spelled like that." Today I went in for a sandwich and she chose to say my name incorrectly. I politely told her how to say it again, she did not care, nor did she address me, but chose to address her manager in a jokingly manner and say she has a "speech impediment" which she does not.
