A friend of mine and I wanted to explore some different Mexican restaurants other that the old stand-bys everyone goes to because they are frankly boring after awhile.
For some reason the Rosales ad talked to us and after calling a couple of times with questions about hours and vegetarian fare, we decided this place sounded great. The woman answering the phone each time was extremely kind and helpful.
We went for lunch on a Sunday and it was great! The staff was lovely.. The place is super clean and the food was FABULOUS! We asked the staff about dishes on other people's plates and we realized we have to branch out more on our next visit.
We were given a bowl of chips and honestly there were the best I have ever had. Not greasy, not too salty. Just perfect. I had a vegetarian quesadilla and it was filled with perfectly cooked veggies and came with a side of guacamole and what tasted like homemade sour cream. So very good.
My friend got a cheese enchilada (he's not a vegetarian but was just in the mode for a cheese enchilada). He loved his dish too...it came with delicious rice and beans not cooked in lard. There is a salsa bar with everything from cilantro and hot sauce to baked peppers and hot guacamole sauce.
They serve the basic beverages, sodas and beers. I don't believe wine was served, but honestly I didn't ask.
The music was fitting the culture...the art on the walls was beautiful. Overall we had a blast. I now declare this my most favorite Mexican...
Read moreI'm lucky to work a couple blocks from here, otherwise I might not have discovered it. I walk to it at least once a week for lunch. There's a patio I like, and plenty of indoor seating as well. Very reasonably priced because you order at the counter and they (quickly) bring your food to your table. Everything is delicious. I don't even have a favorite because no matter what I try, it's great. The service is friendly. Nice family-run establishment, locals eat here. I almost hate to give it a good review because I want it to remain my secret.... but truly they deserve to be very successful, so I unselfishly welcome everyone to give Rosales a try! And yes, parking is also convenient. It's only a half a block from the new Trader Joe's location on Milpas, so plan to fuel up at Rosales before doing your...
Read moreThe restaurant had a fresh coat of paint inside neat and clean appearance. The parking was easy, they have their own parking lot for the restaurant which is nice. Inside we were greeted questions answered order taken at the counter the service was friendly and prompt.. there are so many good things on the menu I had a hard time deciding. I settled on the chile verde. ( I really wanted to try the posole that they have on Tuesday) pricing is moderate. The portions are generous I brought some of my burrito home with me. My mom had the sopes with chicken, and she loved it. I couldn't stop eating their complimentary chips and salsa they were so good fresh. I will go back and if it's as good as it was this time and very consistent they're going to get five stars on my...
