Don't live in SB so on any road trip we try to get to La Super Rica. I mean, it's really good but JEEZ, the yelp lemmings have just turned the wait into too much of an ordeal so we went in search of something else. We see a sign that says El Bajio. Now, this is an area of Mexico that I just returned from a truly groovy vacation so I paused. There's a line (not long) which means SOMEBODY likes it AND more importantly almost everyone in line is a latino. Now they have my attention. So we decided to try it. Look, I'm really fussy about Mexican food. I've eaten it A LOT all over California and on 10 or so trips to Mexico lasting up to a month and including home cooked food as well as street food and four star restaurants and I really, really like El Bajio. The asada taco was as good as any I've had anywhere and I delighted in the fish tacos which were perfectly cooked and replete with fresh quick sauteed summer veggies and poblano chiles. It's different enough that I won't make a direct comparison to LSR. I don't live in SB, like I said. I can't just say, "Oh, I'll go to EB on the weekends and LSR on the otherdays. I'm going to have to choose one over the other on those few times I find myself in the area. It's not a choice I'll make easily.
four strong stars. I don't do five stars easily and the fault here is that it's not cheap for a walk up place but to be fair the quality is there and the portions are very generous. One of my fish tacos would have been plenty of lunch for a...
Read moreNot one to write reviews but this place was delicious! I ordered a sope, expecting round sope but it was long like a gurrache. I also got a delicious catnitas taco, but was full with sope. Still good after eating in evening. Auga fresca watermelon was delicious and not too sweet. As to other folks stating it's over priced. What do you expect your in Beautiful Santa Barbara! Location, location. Location! So yes pricey but Authentic and home made tortillas, sopes etc. Gladly pay higher price for the quality food. Beautiful scenery looking towards the mountains. Parking is small and difficult; your better off driving down the...
Read moreI have to say, this place used to be good. However in the past few years, they got rid of the salsa bar, now they just give you one cup of their worst salsa, the portion sizes have decreased, the food quality has went down, and the price has went up. The people who operate it are also rude and treat you like you’re burdening them by being there. Not to mention they gave a raw tortilla that wasn’t even heated up and was a really poor quality meal for a $20 burrito. Hopefully they go back to the formerly great place they once were or go out of business and make way for...
