Rose Cafe — Restaurant in Santa Barbara

I can't understand the positive reviews for Rose Cafe. I've been coming here for many years not because of food quality, but because I live nearby and it has a friendly lively atmosphere. But the food has gotten worse and Im not coming back until they change.

My friend literally had to spit out the Diablo Shrimp. Unbelieving, I tried a bite and did the same. The shrimp tasted very old and spoiled. It was the kind of horrible experience you can never get out of your head and my stomach still turns.

That was just one incident, but I'd say the overall quality is just not good. (and Im not an annoying Foodie) Their salsa has always been subpar and their drinks are ridiculously light on alcohol.

I still have a soft place in my heart for Rose Cafe. I've been going for a long time, but never for the food quality. After the last incident, though, I had to speak out in the hope that things will change. The locals on the Mesa desperately need a decent Mexican...

I have been here a couple of times and have honestly not been happy with the food or service. First time, I recieved a large piece of steel wool in my veggie tamales. They also took almost an hour and a half to deliver our food. The second time I ordered cheese enchiladas. In my plate, there were several pieces of chicken. I politely explained to our waitress that I was a vegetarian and she was exceptionally rude about returning my plate back to the kitchen. I ended up eating around the chicken and when the bill came, I asked for the meal to be discounted in compensation for the unconvinced they had bestowed upon me. Our waitress was very rude and refused to offer us anything in return. I am sad to write this review as I am normally in full support of locally owned businesses but my experience here has been one I can not disregard. I hope that those who do end up going to this restaurant will recieve a better...

To whom this may concern today is may 15 and I came to your restaurant and sat for over 10 minutes and you server didn't acknowledge me at all while I was there she instead went ahead and assisted other people and too their other. When I got up and ask if she was going to take my order she said she thought I was waiting for my companion to arrive. Never did she ask me if I wanted to wait for him to order so for her to assume I would wait was unprofessional and very rude. She is a disgrace as a server and to be working at your restaurant it's an embarrassment. She then told me that I can get up and order while everyone else was served at their table. As a local all my life I will never recommend your restaurant again and I will surely pass my experience I had with everyone I know and thru social media.
