aesthetic: 4/5 drinks: 6/5 service: 5/5
jiaren's definitely one of my favourite cafes in the bay!! they offer a variety of matcha, coffee, and boba drinks on their menu, with my current go-to being their yuzu matcha sparkler. the drinks are always perfectly made -- never watered down and hit the right balance between a slightly sweet citrus and strong, umami matcha flavour.
as for service, orders come out quickly and the workers are friendly. it's slightly hard to find jiaren cafe since the main entrance is behind this tiny parking lot entrance, but once you're there, there's usually plenty of space to park.
overall jiaren cafe is an awesome lil spot if you're looking to get your caffeine fix (especially post-shopping since it's close to the mall too lol) ~ their delicious drinks and welcoming service never disappoint!! also, with the super cute and calming interior, featuring a giant teddy bear decor and those all-white, minimalist vibes, jiaren cafe makes for a relaxing, aesthetic spot to get work done in. i can't wait to come back soon to try more of their other drinks, and post-pandemic, make this place become my regular hang out +...
Read moreBeen here a few times, the coffee is ok. It honestly tastes like something I could make at home. I genuinely got the feeling that they went out and got an espresso machine just to open this coffee shop, without researching how to make a really good cup of coffee or espresso.
I got a chai latte with almond milk and a regular latte with regular milk. Both were fine, one thing I noticed is that they use Kirkland brand almond milk, which is fine if the latte were $3, but not for $6 - there are better almond milks out there that should be used if that's how much the latte costs. The regular latte was $5, I wouldn't mind paying this for my coffee either if it was really good, but currently I think there is a lot of room for improvement.
With that being said, the place is super nice, they have cool items for sale such as tea sets and other neat items. Also, their staff is incredibly friendly and I even feel bad writing this review because they're so nice, but I really hope they improve their technique because I work nearby and would love a good coffee shop to go...
Read moreJiaren Cafe is a cheery spot for a variety of coffee, tea, and other drinks. I've sampled a few and have been generally satisfied. The Mocha and Dirty Ube Latte were well-made, and I was refreshed by the Strawberry Black Milk Tea. The more unique drinks have been hit-or-miss though. For example, I was a bit disappointed by the Yin Yang Coffee Milk Tea, as it was a bit under-sweetened (even at 100%) and the flavors were a bit confounding. I'm also unsure if activated charcoal is anything more than a fad.
As far as other aspects, Jiaren Cafe is pretty good too. The staff are friendly & welcoming, and I've enjoyed sitting down and getting some work done. Maybe the interior could use a refresh. I also appreciate the classes, workshops, & other experiences they offer to the community, though I've not yet taken part.
Overall, I think Jiaren Cafe is worth checking out, and I will probably return to...
